This position serves as an OPS Health Support Technician and works under the general supervision of the Public Health Services Manager- B SES in the dental outreach program and provides professional support and technical assistance to staff, community agencies and the general public. This position will be assigned to the School Based Sealant Program assisting the dental hygienists while they provide oral health education and preventitive dental services for students in Volusia County schools, daycares, and summer programs. This position requires travel between these work sites.  This position will provide education to community agencies and the public through community events and health fairs in accordance with the mission and vision of the dental program and the Florida Department of Health in Volusia County.

This position does not require you to be a Certified Dental Assistant.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

 

Ability to coordinate schedules

Ability to lift 30lbs or more

Ability to Dependably get to and from work

Ability to provide instruction/education to patients in preventative dental health techniques

 

Qualifications:

 

Minimum -

Must be able to work well with children

Must have a valid Driver's License

Must have time management skills and the ability to work independently

Experience working with children

Computer knowledge (Eaglesoft, HMS)

Bi-lingual Spanish/English

Communicate effectively with people of different cultural and educational backgrounds

Certified Dental Assistant (preferred, not required)
