Your Specific Responsibilities:

 

Responsible for the supervision of staff including appraisals, planning and directing work, approving leave, and having the authority for hiring and taking disciplinary action or effectively recommending such actions.

This position serves as the SENIOR COMMUNITY HEALTH NURSING SUPERVISOR and works under the general supervision of the ASSISTANT COMM HEALTH NURSING DIRECTOR. Provides Clinical Services, professional support and technical assistance to the staff, community agencies, and the general public. This position is a highly responsible position with clinic and supervisory duties including, but not limited to, hiring and selection, planning and directing work, developing performance plans, conducting performance appraisals, approving leave time, and taking disciplinary actions as appropriate. This position will be required to perform duties at multiple sites within the county to include, but not limited to, Florida Department of Health in Volusia County locations as well as sites established/co-located within the community in conjunction with community partners. The employee is expected to arrive at assigned location (daily) on time at the provided start time. Mileage will only be paid in accordance with State policies for travel to different site locations within the county.

In conjunction with the Executive Community Health Nursing Director and Assistant Director of Nursing, plans, develops, implements, reviews and updates, as indicated, all policies and procedures utilized in the provision of services for Family Planning, Immunizations, Sexually Transmitted Diseases. Plans for adaptation and implementation of program requirements for the provision of clinical services including but not limited to Family Planning, Immunizations, Sexually Transmitted Diseases, HIV, Communicable Diseases, TB, epidemiology, disease control, specialty clinics and community partnerships.  

Plans for program needs and identifies training needs. Identifies equipment and supply needs for all areas under supervision to include the maintenance, inventory and replacement of all equipment. Plans, develops, and evaluates client scheduling, as well as clinical staffing productivity standards. Gathers and records pertinent data on client records from assessment and interview process. Provides appropriate client education/counseling related to each health services program. Assists providers with examinations, physicals and other procedures as necessary. 

Ongoing quality assurance evaluation of all program areas efficiency, consistency, effectiveness and continuity of care. Assures adherence to applicable protocols, policies and procedures. Reviews and audits clinical records in DOH Volusia HMS system for content, accuracy and format in adherence to program requirements. Initiates quality improvement projects as indicated. Coordinates and conducts regular audits and quality improvement reviews of clinic services. Responsible for issuing prescribed medications, birth control and emergency contraception according to nurse issuance protocol or under the direction of a provider. Trains staff to general policies, programs, and procedures and advises staff on problems arising in the work process. May also perform routine laboratory tests and process samples per guidelines and HMS Laboratory Module.

 Community-Based Outreach Clinical Services:

Supervises and provides clinical support and operational management of clinical services provided at community-based outreach clinics to include, but not limited to, the provision of family planning, immunizations and STD screening and treatment.

Gathers and records pertinent data/information on client records from assessment and interview process. Provides appropriate client education and counseling related to each health services program. Reviews electronic health record and service coding for completeness, accuracy and quality assurance purposes.

Responsible for issuing prescribed medications per DOH-Volusia Nurse Issuance Protocol and/or under the direction of a provider.

Performs phlebotomy services and routine laboratory testing, including pregnancy tests.

Administers immunizations as appropriate.

Reviews immunization records and status to provide direct immunization services which includes the education, counseling and administration of immunizations to children, adults, and travelers per CDC/ACIP, FDOH and DOH-Volusia guidelines. Updates immunization records in FL SHOTS and issues appropriate documentation, i.e. Form 680 and religious exemptions. 

Other duties as assigned:

Completes timesheet, EARS, and mandatory training in a timely and accurate manner in accordance with agency policies.

Performs other related duties, including Emergency Duty.

 

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

 

Knowledge of nursing and public health principles, practices and techniques.

Ability to supervise and manage staff.

Ability to administer medications and immunizations.

Ability to perform phlebotomy.

Ability to determine work priorities, assign work and ensure proper completion of work assignments.

 

Qualifications:

 

Minimum - 

Must be willing to physically come in the office to perform the duties & responsibilities of the positions

Must have current authorization to work in the United States without employer sponsorship

Must have a valid, unrestricted Drivers License

Must have a current license as a registered professional nurse in the state of Florida

 

Preferred -

Experience working with an electronic health record.
