JOB DUTIES:

 

This is a full-time OPS Park Ranger position on Lake George and Tiger Bay State Forests.  Responsible for the oversight and maintenance of recreation areas on the state forests.  Responsibilities include mowing grass and other landscape maintenance duties, maintaining trails, monitoring and verifying campsite reservations, working with and serving as project lead for volunteers, cleaning restrooms, garbage pickup, policing the area for litter, performing light repairs (carpentry, electrical, plumbing, etc.), tree maintenance and removal, and making and repairing forest signs. Assists with making improvements to recreation areas.

 

Assists as necessary at recreation sites on the state forests and patrols to prevent fires, vandalism, and theft.  Insures the enforcement of applicable rules and regulations.  Provides information to visitors and provides for their general safety. Assists with the development of new recreation areas and facilities.

 

Performs operator maintenance on all equipment used in recreation areas such as tractors, mowers, and pickup trucks. 

 

Performs special periodic duties including assisting with prescribed burning, road maintenance, and enforcing recreation rules and regulations forest wide.

 

Performs other related work as assigned.
