Your Specific Responsibilities:
Work is performed under the supervision of the Environmental Manager and involves enforcement of laws, ordinances, and regulations. This is independent professional environmental work conducting advanced application/project reviews, site inspections or surveys; conducting project evaluations and coordinating these with the department and other state, or federal agencies; reviewing and/or preparing comparable environmental work including sample collection, data entry and analysis, report writing or preparation of correspondence. Travel may be required. Adhere to Information Security policies & procedures. Key Custodian for assigned area.
This position will serve as a subject matter expert in the Food Program, from consultations with customers to training of other inspectors. As a certified food hygiene program inspector position, performs routine inspections in the Food Hygiene program. Consults with facility operators and owners to ensure compliance with 64E-11 Florida Administrative Code (FAC), Chapter 381 Florida Statutes and FDA Food Code 2013. Performs other regulatory duties such as re-inspections, complaint inspections, basic plan review, construction inspections, and preparation of documentation for enforcement action. This position will serve as a basic resource of information for Food facilities and assist the other Environmental Specialists with food trainings. This position will perform data entry of information gathered during regulatory work into EHDMA and state database and other local spreadsheets and databases. This position will be lead inspector in the food program.
As a certified pool operator, performs routine inspections and other basic regulatory activities of public swimming pools, spas, wading pools, special purpose pools, water activity pools, and recreational attraction pools. Consults with facility operators and owners to ensure compliance with 64E-9 FAC and Chapter 381 & Chapter 514 Florida Statutes. Performs other regulatory duties such as reinspection’s, complaint inspections, closure inspections, and preparation of documentation for enforcement action. This position will serve as a basic resource of information for swimming pools and spas and assist with swimming pool and spa trainings and engineering inspections. Conduct engineering re-inspections for compliance. This position will perform data entry of information gathered during regulatory work into EHDMA and the state database and other local spreadsheets/ Independently conducts routine inspections in the Group Care program. Consults with facility operators and owners to ensure compliance with 64E-12, 65C-13, and 65C-22 Florida Administrative Codes. Performs other regulatory duties such as re-inspections, complaint inspections, basic plan review, construction inspections, and preparation of documentation for enforcement action. Examples of group care facilities include public and private schools, health care, adult care, and other residential facilities. This position will serve as a basic resource of information for Group Care facilities and perform data entry of information gathered during regulatory work into EHDMA and the state database and other local spreadsheets and databases. This position will assist the other Environmental Specialists with food and waterborne investigations. This position will be lead inspector in the group care program.
Performs routine inspections and other basic regulatory activities in the Biomedical Waste Program. Consults with facility operators and owners to ensure compliance with 64E-16 FAC and Chapter 381 Florida Statutes. Performs other regulatory duties, such as re-inspections, complaint inspections, closure inspections, and preparation of documentation for enforcement action. This position will perform data entry of information gathered during regulatory work into EHDMA and the state database and other spreadsheets/databases.
Performs routine inspections and other basic regulatory activities of the Body Art Program. Consults with facility operators and owners to ensure compliance with 64E-28 FAC and Chapter 154 Florida Statutes. Performs other regulatory duties such as reinspection, complaint inspections, closure inspections, and preparation of documentation for enforcement action. This position will perform data entry of information gathered during regulatory work into EHDMA and the state database and other local spreadsheets/databases.
This position is expected to conduct sampling, data entry, monitoring for the Healthy Beaches Program and public bathing places program databases.
Conducts water quality monitoring for private and LU wells to include data entry and notification to clients.
Represents the county health department in meetings and negotiations with other state agencies, federal agencies, and other parties to resolve concerns with proposed activities, projects, and land use plans.
Other duties as assigned by the Environmental Manager – SES, to include duties in Sanitary Nuisance Complaint Investigations
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of Florida Administrative Codes and Florida Statues pertaining to Environmental Health Programs. Ability to collect, evaluate, analyze and interpret scientific or technical data. Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures relating to environmental programs. Ability to deal with the public in a tactful and courteous manner. Ability to work independently. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
Qualifications:
Minimum - Must hold and maintain a valid U.S. Driver’s License, CEHP in Food inspections within 6 months of hire, Certified Pool Operator. Must have a Bachelor of Science degree in a natural or physical science.
