Your Specific Responsibilities:

Provide manual housekeeping and general custodial duties and is responsible for the cleanliness, minor maintenance and upkeep of the facilities of the Florida Department of Health of Walton County Health department. This position is identified as sensitive and requires background screening, including finger printing and will report to the Maintenance Supervisor for Public Health Facilities of Walton County.

Specific duties include:

Cleaning floors, furniture and windows in clinics and exam rooms to health department sanitation standards. Perform deep cleaning in clinical spaces as scheduled. Remove trash from exam rooms in accordance with Health Department standards for disposal of waste.

General office cleaning duties including vacuuming, sweeping and mopping floors in hallways, public spaces and conference rooms. Empty trash cans in offices and public areas, clean windows, handrails, doorknobs, push plates and other high contact areas to sanitation levels established at the Department of Health

Cleaning lavatories, commodes, mirrors, glass doors and drinking fountains. Keep dispensers stocked with paper towels and toilet paper. Maintain inventory in custodial storage rooms to ensure adequate supply of cleaning materials, paper products, maintenance items such as light bulbs, trash bags, sanitizers, and report inventory levels regularly. Will be tasked with receiving delivery of supplies, transporting cases via hand truck or carts to storage areas, unpacking deliveries and restocking storage rooms shelves.

Monitor facilities both inside and out for safety concerns, complete safety inspection as requested including monthly fire extinguisher inspections and reporting safety concerns to the supervisor.

Assisting in maintaining the professional appearance of the Department of Health Facilities in Walton County, keeping both inside and outside spaces clean and orderly.

Will participate in department and staff meetings and report any concerns, suggestions and observations regarding the facility to the supervisor. Performs active duty during disaster as required, may be indeterminate periods of time. Emergency duty required of the incumbent includes working in special needs or Red Cross shelters, or performing other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster, man-made or natural.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

 Ability to lift and carry 40 pounds, ability to provide customer service, ability to provide data entry and operate a computer, ability assess maintenance issues and provide solutions to correct, knowledge of Material Safety Data sheets and requirements, knowledge of handling hazardous materials/chemicals safety, knowledge of proper handling and storage of bio-medical,  ability to identify safety hazards

Qualifications:

Minimum – Valid Driver’s License, .

Preferred – Previous custodial/housekeeping experience
