Honeymoon Island State Park is looking to fill an OPS Nature Center Coordinator position working up to 40 hours per week.  This position works weekends, evenings and holidays.

Pay:

$15 per hour

 

Your Specific Responsibilities:

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Compliance with the processing requirements of Chapter 215.422, F.S. is mandatory. Persistent failure to comply with this section by any agency of the state shall constitute good cause for discharge of employees duly found responsible, or predominantly responsible, for failure to comply. 

 

Under the direction of the Board of Directors of the Friends of the Island Parks and the Park Manager

    • Nature Center Retail Operations
      • Retail sales, tracking, ordering, and merchandising
      • Operate point of sale system
      • Prepare and submit financial and other reports as required by the Friends of the Island Parks Board
      • Process cash and credit card transactions, and ensure deposits are made in a timely manner
    • Volunteer management
      • Recruit volunteers to assist in all aspects of Nature Center operations
      • Train volunteers in the use of the Point of Sale system
      • Schedule volunteers, ensuring adequate coverage of the Nature Center
      • Encourage and support volunteers
    • Visitor Services
      • Provide excellent customer services at all times
      • Interpret the park’s resources to visitors
      • Ensure the Nature Center retail section, interpretive displays, restrooms, and general facility are clean and presentable at all times.

 

 Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

 

KNOWLEDGE OF: Basic arithmetic, Retail management, volunteer coordination

 

SKILL IN: Providing outstanding customer service, basic computer skills

 

ABILITY TO: Follow verbal and written instructions; communicate effectively verbally and in writing; establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; accurately prepare and reconcile reports; collect fees; operate  point-of-sale systems, and credit card terminals; answer visitor inquiries in a courteous manner. Successfully complete background and fingerprint check; maintain a valid direvers' license; understand and apply rules, directives, policies, laws and regulations; work weekends, evenings, and holidays;

 

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Experience in operating point-of-sale system

Experience in a retail environment

Experience working with volunteers.

 

Minimum qualifications:

Valid Driver’s license.
