Your Specific Responsibilities:

This position is an accounts receivable position involving the independent application of a variety of accounting skills and medical record reviews pertaining to self-pay client, third party insurance, contract, and cash receivables.  Under limited supervision, this position analyzes accounting functions related to receivables to determine their compliance with local and state policies and monitors effectiveness.  Recommends changes to local accounting procedures to increase efficiency and remove redundancies, develops new accounting procedures, monitors self-pay and cash collection to ensure collections are in line with budget projections.    This position is located in the Finance and Accounting section under the supervision of the Accounting Services Supervisor II - SES.  This position provides backup to all Accountant III positions in the accounts receivable department.

 

Audit all documentation in clinical databases to ensure clinical visit documentation matches level of care for services billed based on evaluation and management coding requirements.  Ensure proper intake and eligibility processes are followed.  Track audits and documentation to ensure state and federal standards are maintained.  If training is needed on any level to increase compliance, coordinate and train applicable staff using classroom and/or on the job training for billing functions including but not limited to service, insurance and demographic entry, insurance verification, processing copayments and deductibles, completing end of day close out processes and reporting requirements.  Prepare lesson guides and desk references for cashier functions and evaluates the progress of trainees working with their immediate supervisors.  Train employees on proper data collection methods and collection requirements to optimize job performance and reduce error rates.  Train employees on how to properly read, understand and process accounts receivable reports.

 

Review billing for accurate eligibility screening, proper service billed and verify eligibility for clients that are billed to FDOH – Lake on Quest and LabCorp Invoices.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of the methods of data collection and analysis
  • Knowledge of Crystal Reports
  • Knowledge of data integrity principles and practices
  • Knowledge of medical and dental billing / collection practices and auditing of these functions
  • Ability to correct, evaluate and analyze data to develop alternative recommendations, solve problems, document workflow and other activities relating to improvement of management practices
  • Ability to organize data into logical format for presentation in reports, documents and other written materials
  • Must be well organized and detail oriented

 

Qualifications:

Minimum –

  • Willing to work before, during, and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency. This may include working in a special needs or Red Cross shelter, or performing other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster, man-made or natural

 

Preferred –

  • Verifiable experience with medical billing
  • Experience researching insurance eligibility
  • Certified Medical Coder
  • Experience processing Provider Credentialing
  • Experience developing Training Plans
  • Experience conducting Chart Audits
