Your Specific Responsibilities:

This is a Part Time highly responsible, professional medical position reporting to the LCHD Administrator and is responsible for directing the medical component of the public health programs for Lake County Health Department. Provides direct supervision to Senior Physicians. Provides medical direction and consultation to all professional health care staff involved in the provision of all public health services, especially in the areas of primary care, child health, chronic disease, family planning, obstetrics, epidemiology and environmental health.

 

Responsible for all supervisory duties including, but not limited to hiring and selection, developing performance plans, position descriptions and conducting performance evaluations. Approves and monitors use of leave. Provides coaching for improved performance and taking disciplinary action when appropriate for all positions under his/her direction. Develops and ensures peer review is conducted in all clinical programs at a minimum of quarterly. Monitors and reports on the productivity, efficiency and quality of care of physicians and providers under his or her supervision

 

Serves as the laboratory director, assuring compliance with CLIAA standards and current certification.

 

Provides consultation, evaluation and guidance to the Lake County Health Department Administrator in specialty areas of public health, preventative health, clinical services, communicable disease/epidemiology, emergency preparedness, and other health related issues relative to the community served.

 

Provides comprehensive health services to patients enrolled in primary care, pediatrics, school health, family planning, STI and/or other health programs. Responsibilities and duties include; performing physical examinations, making diagnosis, developing and ordering treatments, medications, laboratory and radiological tests and providing consultations. Referrals for consultation or emergency care are done when appropriate and necessary

 

Participates in planning in-service programs and meetings as they relate to the position

 

Actively participates in performance Improvement effects and reviews patient records to assure quality health care and accurate documentation

 

Assists with education of nursing and health care students precepting with the Health Department

 

As a consultant and in coordination with the Nursing Director, develops and maintains current protocols and standard operating procedures for the LCHD programs.

 

Acts as a consultant to disaster preparedness activities.

Performs other duties as required.

 

Qualifications:

Minimum –

  • Willing to work before, during, and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency. This may include working in a special needs or Red Cross shelter, or performing other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster, man-made or natural
  • Licensed physician in the State of Florida
  • Willing to travel to different sites in Lake County as needed

Preferred –

  • One or more years of experience in family medicine
  • One or more years of experience in an area of disease control (HIV, STI, TB)
  • ACGME approved residency program
  • Experience with utilizing an electronic health record
  • Experience working with the Department of Health
