Your Specific Responsibilities:

This is a multi-hire requisition and will be used to fill multiple vacancies.

This is a temporary, professional position in the Florida Department of Health in Lake that will provide nursing support to local COVID-19 response. This position requires clinical skills within a Registered Nurse scope of practice.

Incumbent must professionally interact with health care providers as well as community members of diverse social, economic and cultural characteristics. Incumbent will request and have regular access to a wide range of protected health information and must follow all laws and policies on accessing and sharing such data. Incumbent must understand and effectively communicate the current guidelines on COVID-19 as directed. Effective written and verbal communication are required. Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred.

Scheduled work may include weekends, evenings, and holidays. Work assignments may include outdoor testing events. Incumbent may interact with those known or suspected to have an active infection and must follow all appropriate protocols for self-protection against transmission.

 

Specific duties may include:

  • Gathering and reporting comprehensive information on patients diagnosed with COVID-19 and their close contacts
  • Notifying patients of positive test results
  • Taking and recording vital signs including height, weight, temperature, heart rate and blood pressure
  • Administer vaccines
  • Providing specimen collection (e.g., swabbing) in clinics and community testing events under protocols
  • Assisting with community testing event logistics as directed
     

Qualifications:

Minimum –

  • Willing to work before, during, and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency. This may include working in a special needs or Red Cross shelter, or performing other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster, man-made or natural
  • Current, active Florida license as a Registered Nurse
