Position Overview and Responsibilities:
This position is centered on day-to-day park operations focusing on facility maintenance and customer service but has some rare opportunities to be exposed to other facets of the park including: visitor education, resource management, and other projects. This position will be needed for 16 hours a week which includes weekend shift coverage and does not have health insurance.
The primary function of this position is to provide excellent customer service as the first point of contact on entering historic Fort Clinch. This position will also be used throughout the park to assist in day-to-day operations as needed.
Responsible for greeting visitors to the Fort and providing information pertaining to the history and activities that occurred during the Civil War in costumed in first-person interpretation dress.
VISITOR SERVICES/VISITOR EDUCATION - Explains facilities and services provided for public use, enjoyment and education; meets visitors, answers questions, provides information and directions. Attempts to resolve visitor complaints while maintaining good public relations.
MAINTENANCE - Maintains cleanliness of grounds and buildings
Performs other related duties as required.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
KNOWLEDGE OF:
Basic arithmetic
Microsoft Office programs
Basic program troubleshooting
Apply maintenance trades
SKILLED IN:
Providing good customer service
Filling in short reports
Communicate effectively with internal emails and timesheets
Providing top-notch visitor services through the cleanliness and maintenance of facilities and high-quality visitor contact experiences
Performing cleaning and grounds keeping duties
Operating trucks, tractors, operating mowers, and utility vehicles standard power and manual tools
Operate various types of lawn maintenance equipment including chainsaws, blowers, standard power and manual tools
ABILITY TO:
Communicate verbally and in writing
Perform physical labor and janitorial duties
Deal with people and maintain good public relations
Follow verbal and written instructions
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
Provide answers to visitor inquiries in a tactful, efficient and courteous manner
Understand and apply rules, directives, policies, laws, and regulations
Operate lawn mowers, weed eaters, backpack blowers, and other grounds maintenance equipment as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
Valid Driver’s License
Work rotating shifts including nights, holidays and weekends
Position of Special Trust Requirement:
This position is designated as a Position of Special Trust in accordance with DEP Directive 422, Positions of Special Trust or Responsibility. Successful completion of background screening will be required for this position.

$18/hour
