This position requires you to work on site at one of our facilities located throughout Broward County.

 POSITION DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

This is a professional accounting position requiring independent judgement and minimum supervision in the performance of internal control and internal audit function regarding the fiscal operations of the Agency. This position reports to the County Health Dept Financial Admin-Hlth and meets the requirements as defined in Chapter 447.203, (5) Florida Statutes.

 

Prepares all cash reconciliations on a timely and accurate basis, investigating and resolving all errors and recommending corrective actions or alternative procedures to reduce or eliminate error repetition. Performs annual internal control assessment, recommending corrective action or procedural change to strengthen internal control. Completes or coordinates the completion of the annual Internal Control Questionnaire. Performs cash counts, at least quarterly, on funds held by cashiers at various locations. Reviews all daily cash transactions. Records the transfer of the deposits in FLAIR to the Department of Financial Services (DFS). Answers queries from DFS regarding deposits, investigating and resolving all issues. Audits the inventory of pharmaceuticals, vaccines and dental drugs.

 

Develops internal control audits of any and all fiscal functions of the Agency. All audits as to follow generally accepted auditing guidelines and to focus on both internal controls and adherence to State of Florida and Department of Health laws, regulations and policies. Renders assistance to auditors from other entities performing examinations on the Agency’s activities, fiscal records and or reports. Leads in the preparation of the annual Medicaid Cost Base Reimbursement Report. Performs special audits and studies as directed by the Financial Administrator or Director.

 

Performs other duties as assigned.

 

 

 

 

 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  1. Willing to work before, during, and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency. This may include working in a special needs or Red Cross shelter, or performing other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster, man-made or natural.
  2. Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration from an accredited university or college.
  3. Accounting experience.
  4. Experience working with financial/budgetary codes.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

 

  1. Certified Internal Auditor certification.
  2. Five (5) years of accounting experience.
  3. Five (5) years of experience working in an audit environment.
  4. Two (2) years of experience working with state of Florida accounting systems.
