DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

The duties and responsibilities are those of a Community Health Nursing Supervisor assigned to plan and supervise the work of a large group of professional and paraprofessional nurses and support staff in a specialized and/or general program. Work is performed under the direct supervision of the Health Center Administrator, with limited direction and guidance from Executive Community Health Nursing Director.

Ensures staff provides advanced public health level assessment of health status and health care needs of individuals, families and/or groups of individuals (particularly those with complex and multiple problems and communicable disease) in a variety of settings, including but not limited to clinics, schools, hospitals, homes, and other public/community facilities.

Provides comprehensive nursing services in a specialized area of practice; Provides direct patient care along with in-depth teaching, guidance, counseling, and advisement that is directed toward the prevention, promotion, and maintenance of optimal health; health teaching and guidance.

Participates in observing patient’s physical and behavioral reactions to medications and vaccines. Responsible for facilitating the flow of work to accomplish the agency’s objectives within the specific program area.

Establishes effectiveness of the individual worker group through staff development and motivational techniques.

Assures security measures are in place to protect confidentiality of all data sets. Serves as liaison between staff, administration, and community partners. Participates in the development, planning and evaluation of program objectives and other related operational projects, procedures and methodologies as required. Ensures vaccine accountability daily.

Ensures the accuracy and timeliness of all required program and agency reports and reporting.

Maintains appropriate, accurate and up-to-date records of services provided. Ensures vaccine accountability daily and proper storage and handling are maintained daily.

Participates in educational, professional and community activities that relate to professional growth and aid in the improvement of the delivery of client care.

 Other duties as assigned.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Licensure as a Registered Nurse in accordance with Florida Statute 464.
  2. Experience working as a Registered Nurse in a Hospital, Clinic setting, Public Health, Home Health.
  3. An Associate Degree or above from an accredited college or university with a major in nursing.
  4. Registered Nurse (RN) Experience supervising staff.
  5. Registered Nurse (RN) Experience training staff
  6. Candiate must have valid driver’s license free of any major infraction and access to an insured reliable vehicle to be used for work purposes (mileage will be reimbursed).
  7. Ability to work evening hours.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. At least one year working as an RN supervising staff
  2. At least one year working as an RN training staff
  3. RN experience working with pediatrics
  4. RN experience administering vaccines to infants and children
  5. RN experience with vaccine inventory
  6. Experience working in the Florida Shots Registry
