This is an OPS (Other Personal Services) positions and as such no paid time off is offered. Health benefits will be offered for full-time employment.  OPS employees are eligible to participate in a deferred compensation plan. This is a temporary position with duties associated with COVID-19 response.  This is not a remote position.

This position will provide para-professional nursing assistance in the general public health nursing program in the FL Department of Health- Broward under the direction and supervision of the  Community Health Nursing Supervisor.  Utilizing the public health nursing process, the incumbent will be required to independently conduct, coordinate and monitor for quality control and assurance. 


Medical professionals filling this role will be responsible for providing Covid-19 screening and swabbing and collecting anterior nasal or oral throat mucosa  samples for COVID-19 testing.  Testing is provided using a curbside approach. Participants will remain in their vehicles throughout the process.

Clinic Duties:

  • Obtains identifying information on patients.
  • Prepares test kit and administers test.
  • Transmits non-complex health information and instructions.
  • Assists with record preview and review.
  • Assists in conducting health screenings.
  • Maintains a record of work performed and other reports as required.
  • Other duties as required



  • Knowledge of nursing principles and techniques.
  • Knowledge of human anatomy and physiology.
  • Knowledge of Immunization practices and administration of vaccines to children and adults.
  • Skill in the use of medical equipment and instruments used in providing nursing care
  • Skill in computer use.
  • Ability to demonstrate manual dexterity.
  • Ability to administer medications.
  • Ability to work with patients.
  • Ability to interpret and follow medical instructions.
  • Ability to observe patients' symptoms and reactions to treatment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Current Florida licensure as a Practical Nurse (LPN) in accordance with Chapter 464, Florida Statutes or eligible to practice nursing in accordance with Florida Administrative Code 210-8.22 or 8.27.
  • Experience working in a healthcare setting.
  • Work experience with Electronic Health Records.
  • Willing and able to work late evenings and weekends as determined by program needs.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Experience in administration of Covid 19 testing.
    Incumbent may be required to work before, during and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency.  Emergency duty required of the incumbent includes working in special needs or Red Cross shelters, or performing other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster, man-made or natural.
