This position requires to work on site at one of our facilities located throughout Broward County.

POSITION DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
This is a highly responsible administrative public health nutrition position working as a Nutrition Educator within the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) to manage the WIC Person of the Day (POD) client services and WIC Program administrative reports. The incumbent must follow state, local, and federal regulations of the WIC Program. Work is performed under the direction of the Public Health Nutrition Program Director.
This position is designated as a sensitive position and is required to maintain information in accordance with state and federal statutes, rules, and regulations, as well as of the Florida Department of Health in Broward County Policies, Protocols, and Procedures. This position has been delegated custodial authority for their Program/Unit's information set(s) and/or secured areas(s).
This position is responsible for monitoring and ensuring compliance with and management of the WIC POD and completing required administrative reports in the WIC data system, FL-Wise, Q-Flow and Avaya CMS supervisor.
Monitors and ensures compliance with the WIC Program regulations as described in DHM 150-24. Ensures optimal daily management of the WIC POD client services by:
- Monitoring flow of calls in the WIC POD skills in Clerical, Nutrition, and Breastfeeding
- Monitoring Wait Times and Abandoned calls in the WIC POD
- Provide and schedule staffing for the WIC POD, including telework and in-person staff and meal and break periods daily
- Managing queue priority levels for each employee daily
- Monitor calls in Call Back Assist queues
- Ensures daily appointment lists are completed and sent to WIC supervisors
- Ensure daily client appointment lists are completed and sent through WIC POD throughout the day
- Inform staff and WIC supervisors of WIC POD needs throughout the day and during end of day procedures via e-mail and phone
- Ensure completion of client services for clients that contact the call center directly.
- Communicate with Call Center supervisors as needed for WIC POD support
- Communicate with Information Technology (IT) to ensure WIC POD back end procedures are updated and in good standing.
- Complete Quality Assurance on calls in the WIC POD and provide feedback to staff
- Assist in call tracing as needed for quality assurance purposes
- Ensure monthly POD data is collected, logged, and submitted monthly
Completes administrative reports as assigned.
Trains new incoming staff on the WIC POD process. Provides training and pertinent materials as needed for updated POD processes to WIC staff.
Monitors and takes action to improve indicators and meet program goals. Responsible for monitoring, evaluating and discipline of assigned site staff. Responsible for site staff schedule ensuring adequate coverage for scheduled appointments. Maintains records and prepares, submits and monitors reports as requested per established deadlines.
Provides individual and group nutrition assessment and education to high and low risk clients for the WIC Program. Assists clients in making client centered, measurable, and obtainable goals. Provides breastfeeding promotion, education and support to WIC clients.
Responsible for documenting all client contacts in the WIC Data System. All work is performed following DHM 150-24 rules and regulations.
Determines client eligibility following DHM 150-24 rules and regulations and performs anthropometric measurements and hematological testing for WIC clients following DHM 150-24 rules and regulations.
Attends staff meetings, trainings and staff development activities as required. Completes leave, attendance, EARS, travel and any other reports as required and according to established procedures.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Are you willing to work before, during, and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency? This may include working in a special needs or Red Cross shelter, or performing other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster, man-made or natural. Emergency duties may also include in-state and/or out-of-state deployment.
- Have a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Nutrition, Public Health Nutrition, Dietetics, or Food and Nutrition.
- Experience providing WIC services to clients including nutrition education, determining eligibility, issuing benefits, and taking anthropometric and hematological measurements in person and over the phone.
- Experience providing training to staff on WIC processes.
- Experience preparing, maintaining, and submitting WIC reports per established deadlines.
- Experience performing Quality Assurance and providing feedback to staff.
- Current employee of Florida Department of Health employees, includes OPS, Career Service, SES or SMS employees?
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience managing WIC client services in the WIC Person of the Day (POD).
- At least 5 years experience managing staff in a WIC site.
