This is an OPS (Other Personal Services) positions and as such no paid time off is offered. Health benefits will be offered for full-time employment. OPS employees are eligible to participate in a deferred compensation plan.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
This is an independent professional position specializing in the permitting, compliance, and enforcement of rules and regulations of, Limited Use Public Water Supplies, Well Construction, Florida Health Beach Program and public swimming pools & public bathing places regulated under various Florida Administrative Codes (FAC).
Duties require a thorough understanding of rules, laws, and techniques pertinent to water pollution, water treatment, and other related environmental concerns. The incumbent serves as contact person for permitting, compliance, and enforcement issues related to mentioned programs.
Works independently by inspecting locations throughout Broward County and reviewing construction plans submitted by consultants. All inspection results will then be entered into into the DOH Environmental Health Database by the incumbent with the results sent to the property owners. Work is conducted under the general direction of an Environmental Manager.
Backup duties for other environmental programs will be provided as needed.

- Ability to collect, evaluate, analyze and interpret scientific or technical data.
- Ability to prepare technical reports.
- Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures relating to environmental programs.
- Ability to understand and follow legislative policy direction as established in Florida Statutes.
- Ability to deal with the public in a tactful and courteous manner.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
- Skills in effective communication, verbal and written.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
Ability to use personal computers.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Willing to work before, during, and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency.
- Bachelor’s degree from accredited 4 year college or university with a degree in engineering or in environmental science, environmental health, public health or a physical biological science.
- Previous experience in interpretation of rules/regulations.
- Valid driver’s license free of major infractions and access to an automobile to be utilized for work purposes and receive reimbursement for mileage.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. Previous experience conducting inspections of public swimming pool facilities.
