This position requires you to work on site at one of our facilities located throughout Broward County.
This is an OPS (Other Personal Services) positions and as such no paid time off is offered. Health benefits will be offered for full-time employment. OPS employees are eligible to participate in a deferred compensation plan.

POSITION DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
This is a professional OPS Health Educator position responsible for providing health promotion, health equity, public health education services. This position is under the supervision of the Tobacco Prevention Program Manager in the Community Health Division of a large County Health Department. Duties and responsibilities of the position include, but not limited to the following:
- Supporting the development and implementation of policy and environmental changes that will impact tobacco prevention and control efforts for the Florida Department of Health in Broward County including but not limited to Tobacco Prevention policy areas K-12 Schools, Cessation Access and Tobacco Free Organizations.
- Collaborating with the Tobacco Prevention Specialist on the coordination, implementation, and evaluation of all strategies and activities as outlined in the Bureau of Tobacco Free Florida annual work plan to address assigned policy areas.
- Confers with the Tobacco Prevention Specialist to complete and submit quarterly reports in the Automated Tobacco Activity Collection System (ATACS), special reports, end of year reports, and other requests for information.
- Participating in Tobacco Free Partnership of Broward County meetings and providing monthly updates of program and policy implementation activities and related information.
- Preparing presentations to facilitate meeting, trainings, key informant interviews, workshops and community outreach.
- Other related duties as assigned.

- Willing to work before, during, and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency. This may include working in a special needs or Red Cross shelter, or performing other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster, man-made or natural.
- A valid driver's license, free of major infractions and access to an automobile to be utilized for work purposes.
- Experience developing and conducting educational presentations.
- Experience with community outreach and collaborating with community partners.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- Experience with educating decision makers.
- Tobacco Free and a Non-Smoker.
