POSITION DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

This is a highly responsible position for a Senior Pharmacist licensed in the state of Florida, able to perform the duties of a professional pharmacist.
Dispenses prescriptions in accordance with various programs that the Health Department supports (ie: HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, Family Planning, Sexually Transmitted Diseases, Epilepsy, Insulin, etc.).  Duties include data entry of prescription information, dispensing medications, quality assurance, providing medication education and counseling to patients, and providing clinical assessment that is necessary to ensure patient safety and improve compliance.
This individual is responsible for all supervisory duties including, but not limited to hiring and selection; developing performance plans; conducting performance appraisals; planning and directing their work; approving leave; and taking disciplinary action as appropriate.

Provides drug information to health care professionals and/or clients as well as patient consultation.  Instructs patients (and/or parents) on medication administration techniques as applicable.
Maintains and monitors the records and medication profiles of patients enrolled in various programs.  Prepares and coordinates the appropriate pay sources, program codes and forms for proper pharmacy billing.
Maintains a perpetual inventory control system for drugs and other items as appropriate.  Orders drugs from wholesaler or supplier on a daily basis (or as required).
Performs all duties and responsibilities as defined by the Florida Board of Pharmacy as the “Prescription Department Manager” of the Paul Hughes Health Center Pharmacy.
Generates and/or reviews monthly reports of the different programs to monitor expenditures and ensure accuracy.
Reports any problems/deficiencies to the Pharmacy Manager and/or Health Center Administrator and helps to develop solutions.
Reads and evaluates pharmacy literature and medical journals to keep informed of new developments related to all pharmaceutical operation.
Complies with policy and procedures regarding drug free workplace and HIPAA and is responsible for Information Security and HIPAA standards.
Performs other duties as required.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES

Knowledge of the principles, practices, standards and terminology used in the practice of pharmacy.
Knowledge of drug properties and usage including the effects of drug interactions.
Ability to administer a pharmacy or a section of a pharmacy.
Ability to compound and dispense pharmaceutical drugs, medications, and supplies.
Ability to formulate and implement pharmacy policies, methods, specifications and procedures.
Ability to provide training to staff members.
Ability to evaluate drug therapy against set criteria.
Ability to develop program policy manuals, rules and program monitoring methodologies, techniques and plans.
Ability to develop and maintain a perpetual inventory control system.
Ability to evaluate pharmacy methods, procedures, and services.
Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
Ability to monitor and coordinate clinical pharmacy services such as drug information, disease assessment, and medications management.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Florida registered pharmacist (license without restrictions).
Supervisory experience.
Experience working in a retail or ambulatory clinic pharmacy practice setting.
Data entry experience utilizing pharmacy specific computerized settings.
Valid driver's license.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

A minimum of three years of work experience in a retail or ambulatory clinic pharmacy practice setting.
Experience with the ADAP and the Ryan White Part-B or pharmaceutical assistance program.
