Your Specific Responsibilities:
The Employment Security Representative I perform work in CareerSource Southwest Florida Fort Myers Center that provides services to employers and other career seekers in a workforce office setting. Activities include the following:
- Interviews and assesses customer needs, education, knowledge, job skills and abilities, and registers applicants as appropriate.
- Assess the needs of customers to determine the eligibility of applicants and refer to services such as Supplemental Nutrition Assistant Program (SNAP), Welfare Transition Program, Ticket to Work, Job Youth Programs, Veterans Services, In House Hiring Events, etc.
- Perform accurate, timely required data collection functions and ensure proper entry in Employ Florida; monitors performance and production reports to ensure that relevant performance standards are met.
- Provides instructions and assistance to customers utilizing services, systems and information available in the Resource Room, along with other related computer data and programs.
- Refers customers to job openings, training opportunities, and other employment-related services as appropriate.
- Instruct jobseekers one-on-one and/or group settings by conducting employability skills workshops on presenting a positive image, how to effectively access job openings, completing applications, resume assistance, interview and networking techniques, etc.
- Provides labor market information and other employment related supportive services as appropriate.
- Ensures that all services provided are adequately documented in Employ Florida (EF) and makes certain job-seekers and/or employers understand the extent of CareerSource services
- Processes job orders using information from employers to compile job descriptions, accurately codes each opening by occupation and industry, and performs file searches to identify qualified candidates (job matching) for job orders listed.
- Monitors job openings and verifies referral results with employers.
- Calls employers to promote office programs and make job development contacts when appropriate.
- Identifies and recommends to the immediate supervisor actions and services needed to maintain compliance with established regulations, directives, and procedures.
- Provides personalized services for Recruitment Agreement employers.
- Performs other related duties as required in a "seamless" service delivery system.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge/experience using Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and other similar software.
- Knowledge of employment development or placement principles.
- Knowledge of the principles and techniques of interviewing and counseling.
- Knowledge of the methods of data entry and collection.
- Knowledge of the principles and techniques of effective communication.
- Ability to deal with the public in a tactful, courteous and effective manner.
- Ability to conduct effective interviews.

Qualifications:
As a condition of pre-employment eligibility, a Level 2 security background screening is required, which consists of fingerprinting and a check of local, state, and national law enforcement records.
Minimum:
- One (1) year of professional or nonprofessional experience in areas related to employment such as job placement, veteran's service, administrative, sales, marketing, and interviewing, job development, job analysis, counseling or other career services function or equivalent that may substitute on a year-to-year basis for the preferred college education.
- Two (2) years of customer service experience.
- Duties and responsibilities of this position must be performed at the official work site of the Department.
- The incumbent must possess or obtain certification as Florida Certified Workforce Professional Tier 1 training within six (6) months of employment in the position.
- Required to travel locally and throughout Region 24 (Charlotte, Collier, Glades, Hendry and Lee counties) which may necessitate the use of a personal vehicle.
- May be required to travel.
Pay:
$16.23 Hourly; $2813.34 Monthly; $33,760 Annually

The Employment Security Representative I is a professional position with Florida Commerce which promotes employment and training programs alongside of the Workforce Development Board frontline staff. You will focus on placement services for career seekers using Employ Florida (EF), job boards, local newspapers, and community resources. Ensures quality referrals are based on employer defined skill sets and requirements. Employers are provided with job order services, job creation, updates, placement verifications, follow-up and hiring events. You will make sure career seekers and employers understand all services provided by CareerSource Southwest Florida.
