This is an Other Personnel Service (OPS) Registered Nurse position with the Department of Health in Lee County.
Your Specific Responsibilities:
The incumbent provides public health nursing services for clients in FDOH -Lee clinics. This position is classified as a sensitive position. Incumbent handles protected health information on a need-to-know basis following Department of Health, HIPAA and Information Security and privacy policy. Employee abides by State/Federal laws governing health information. Responsible to maintain confidentiality, security, privacy, and integrity of protected health information. Refers and utilizes DOH 50-10. This position has access to the following information sets: Refugee Record, Tuberculosis Record, Medical Records, Laboratory Reports, Immunizations, and the electronic health records system.
CLINIC SERVICES:
Promotes and maintains health of individuals, families, and the community through appropriate preventative and rehabilitative measures. Provides comprehensive nursing in all FDOH Lee clinics and community settings as warranted. These services include childhood and adult immunizations, refugee health, Tuberculosis, reproductive health services, counseling/testing, health screening, health education, referrals and follow-up of the referrals, timely and thorough documentation, and collection of laboratory specimens.
SUPPORT SERVICES:
Maintains comprehensive quality records, collects, and reports pertinent data to advanced practice registered nurses and physicians; provides appropriate case follow-up; participates in case conferences; confers with other professionals; formulates and evaluates care plans, assists in record reviews; recognizes and understands the changes in the community and nursing practice which affects community health unit programs/plans; serves as staff advisor to student affiliates and new staff nurses.
Manages medication room, maintaining adequate inventory and working with supervisor for ordering medications as needed. Keeps drug room organized.
Assists with health fairs, community organizations, and specific public health events as requested. Prepares reports or other required data within specified time frames. Attends pertinent conferences as requested or permitted.
Prepares biweekly leave/attendance records and daily employee activity records (EARs). This position has the responsibility of being the Alternate Information Custodian for the Refugee Health information set and, in the absence of the Information Custodian will perform related duties as defined in DOHP 50-10. Performs related work.

Licensure/registration/certification requirements (If applicable, list the appropriate Florida Statute or federal regulation cite):
- Licensure as Registered Professional Nurse in accordance with Florida Statute 464 or eligible to practice nursing in accordance with Florida Administrative Code 210-8.27.
Other job-related requirements for this position:
- Incumbent may be required to work before, during and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency. Emergency duty required of the incumbent includes working in special needs or Red Cross shelters, or performing other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster, man-made or natural.
- Incumbent must possess a valid Florida Driver License and have a motor vehicle to carry out these duties.
- Selected immunizations or titers and/or periodic screening for tuberculosis may be recommended for this position.
- Must be willing to undergo FIT Testing
- Must have current CPR certification or obtain such certification during employment.
- This position is authorized to transport confidential information outside of established DOH-Lee facilities and must comply with parameters defined in DOHP 50-10.
- This position has the responsibility of being the Information Custodian for the PrEP and nPEP information set and will perform related duties as defined in DOHP 50-10.
