Where You Will Work:  

Greater Fort Lauderdale and Jacksonville  encompasses Broward County and is a principal city of the Miami metropolitan area. Ft Lauderdale is a popular tourist destination and Yachting Capital of the World.  The city is known for its beaches, bars, nightclubs, and history as a spring break location. Port Everglades is considered the 3rd largest cruise port in the world. 

 

North East Florida, aka Florida’s First Coast, is the most historical section of the state as it was the first area colonized by Europeans in the United States.  The area beaches located on the Atlantic Ocean are some of the most beautiful and very popular with tourists and locals. The St John’s River, the only one that flows north in the United States, has tributaries throughout most of the counties and flows right through the center of the Greater Jacksonville’s metropolitan area, the 4th largest city of Florida consisting of many businesses and corporations, including a large seaport, JAXPORT, doing import and export business with more than 100 countries.  The Navy has a large presence in the area with three major military bases, Naval Air Station (NAS) and Mayport Naval Station, and the Submarine Station on St Mary’s River. Higher education has a large presence here with University of North Florida, Florida State College, historically black Edward Waters College, Jacksonville University and Flagler College of St Augustine. Fishing, skiing, boating and swimming in the river and creeks are popular with the locals. The Jacksonville area boasts of having the NFL Jaguars and the Jumbo Shrimp minor league baseball team.

Pay:        ($15.70-16.28 HOURLY -Firm

 

Your Specific Responsibilities:

  • An Employment Program Specialist in the Reemployment Assistance Office of Appeals is a professional position responsible for analyzing and reviewing reemployment assistance claims.  The Employment Program Specialist also provides customer service to external parties for the Office of Appeals.  The employment Program Specialist is required to be knowledgeable of State and Federal requirements related to the lower and higher authority appeals processes and reemployment assistance claims.  The Employment Program Specialist gathers information, performs research using various case systems and examines, analyzes, and investigates complex claim information to determine the appropriate course of action.  Handles and conducts telephone calls with appeal parties, including telephone calls from claimants, employers, accountants,m attorneys and other parites that are referred to this employee for action.
  • The associate in this position will be responsible for handling various correspondence, researching complex appeal and claim issues and coordinating with different teams to bring resolution to problems.  This associate will handle pre-hearing case review and will be in communication with claimants and employers regarding claim issues to provide a resolution to outstanding actions.  The associate may be asked to lead projects.
  • Provides advice and feedback to management on process related topics and trends and may prepare or complete reports related to work assignments.
  • Performs other related work as required.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of Reemployment Assistance law and rules, court rules, applicable court cases, principles and techniques of effective verbal and written communication. 

Knowledge and understanding of the appeals processing.

Skill and proficiency in using Microsoft Office including creating reports through Excel.

 

Qualifications:

As a condition of pre-employment eligibility, a Level 2 security background screening is required, which consists of fingerprinting and a check of local, state and national law enforcement records.  

Minimum – High school education with at least six months of work experience.

 

Preferred - 

One year of completed college courses; or

One year working in an office environment; or

One year customer service experience.
