DESCRIPTION:

The Office of Fidelity, Accountability, and Support is seeking an individual with knowledge of or experience with Florida Department of Juvenile Justice, who possesses a desire to impact best practices and quality of service delivery in Residential and Probation programs. 

Due to the nature of the work, overnight travel is sometimes required. Ability to travel may be occasionally with little to no notice. 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position will serve as a Fidelity Support Specialist, responsible for providing oversight and determining the quality of services being provided to Department youth. Duties and responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Utilizing advanced knowledge of the Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) Juvenile Justice Information System (JJIS), DJJ Probation and Residential Commitment policies and practices, to provide initial and ongoing training and oversight to Probation and Residential staff.
  • Conducting site visits at DJJ programs to assess quality of services being provided to youth, quality of assessments being completed on youth, and overall contract adherence related to service delivery. 
  • Monitoring progress in the implementation of quality service delivery, including the quality of any specific treatments or practices in terms of adherence to the model and quality of service.
  • Creating detailed reports and summaries related to the delivery of delinquency interventions to youth. Completing Standardized Program Evaluation Protocol (SPEP) annual reviews, supplemental reviews, and annual compliance reports.
  • Working with program staff to develop best practices for the implementation of evidence-based and research informed programming.
  • Providing technical assistance services and coaching to address problems or deficiencies. Assisting in the development of an outcome-based corrective action plan (OBCAP), if applicable, and assisting with verification monitoring site visits to determine compliance and provide feedback to the program area, contract manager, and program/provider.
  • Communicating and working with various offices and staff including but not limited to quality improvement, health services, residential, probation, research, and others who may be associated with program improvement initiatives or progress with programs.
  • Providing training/coaching services to include group facilitation, case management, behavior management, risk assessment, documentation, and any other necessary topic to improve service delivery. 
  • Attending and participate in meetings, trainings, and other initiatives related to professional development as authorized by management. 
  • Completing special projects and other duties as assigned.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, and the ability to provide clear and precise directions.
  • Knowledge of criminogenic risk factors, basic principles of cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing techniques, and evidence-based practice. 
  • Ability to understand and apply rules, regulations, policies and procedures relating to operational activities.
  • Ability to gather and organize data into a logical format for presentation in reports, documents and other written materials.
  • Ability to work independently and to take lead role on projects, plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments, and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to assess training needs. 
  • Ability to maintain confidential information.
  • Skill in building interpersonal relationships.
  • Ability to use desktop and laptop computers, tablets, cell phones, and various audio-visual equipment and the MS Office software suite.
  • Ability to use the Juvenile Justice Information System, including the PMM system.
  • Incumbent must have ability to travel throughout the state as needs arrive, on short notice.

 

PERFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

A bachelor’s degree and two years of professional experience in juvenile justice delinquency, prevention, probation, residential services, or quality improvement.

Experience using Microsoft software.
