The Work You Will Do:

Project Development Supervisor I – District Four / Transportation Development / Planning & Environmental Management/Mobility Development

 

This position will be responsible for leading the development of engineering design concepts and coordinating project funding.

Annual Salary Range

$94,590.87 - $122,411.72  

 

Your Specific Responsibilities:

Supervises employees spending the majority of the time communicating with, motivating, training, and evaluating employees, and planning and directing employees’ work. Has the authority to effectively recommend the hiring, transferring, suspension, lay off, recalls, promotions, discharges, assignments, rewards, or disciplinary actions for subordinate employees. Plans and directs workloads, deadlines, work objectives and time utilization with subordinate staff.  Provides direction and ensures that all subordinates receive training and instruction in methods and techniques necessary to safely perform their assigned tasks.

 

Identifies, evaluates, prioritizes and coordinates mobility needs related to capacity, operational and safety. Specific tasks include needs identification, project prioritization, funding strategies and project scheduling. Assists in the development of transportation safety projects. Assures quality of preliminary engineering geometry, traffic analysis, right-of-way, utilities, cost estimates, and environmental screening. Requests new project funding and assures projects advance through the FDOT Work Program. Serves as the engineer in responsible charge for concept development studies; reviews, approves, signs and seals plans.

 

Serves as the District Strategic Intermodal System (SIS) Coordinator. Manages the District’s Strategic Intermodal System (SIS) program. Assures long range prioritized SIS needs for all modes of transportation are accepted by the Department. Coordinates adoption of cost feasibility plan. Assures planned projects meet the District’s short-range and mid-range goals. Coordinates annual review of project programming changes with management and Central Office. Oversees planning studies involving SIS facilities and develops prioritization for identified needs. Identifies need for SIS designation changes and reviews proposed access management changes to assure preservation of the SIS highway network.

 

Serves as project manager for consultant contracts. Coordinates with Professional Services Unit to ensure all contractual processing meets Department criteria. Develops contract scope of services and coordinates activities related to initiation, advertisement, and execution of contracts. Coordinates preparation of project-specific scope of services, staff hour estimates, consultant staff hour negotiations, contract execution and maintenance. Coordinates, reviews and approves invoices. Prepares, coordinates and negotiates Supplemental Agreements as required. Serves on Technical Review Committee (TRC) in consultant acquisition for professional engineering services.

 

The Successful Candidate will have the following required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Licensure/Registration/Certification Requirements:

  • Registration as a Professional Engineer in accordance with Florida Statute 471.
