Overview:

The Florida Gaming Control Commission (“FGCC”) is a five-member commission appointed by the Governor. The FGCC is charged with investigating and enforcing Florida pari-mutuel and gaming statutes and rules.

 

The FGCC’s Office of Pari-Mutuel Wagering, State Compliance Agency, is searching for a dynamic Tax Auditor IV.

 

Position Duties and Responsibilities:

The Tax Auditor IV, working under the direction of the Audit Administrator, provides support to the FGCC’s Office of Pari-Mutuel Wagering, SCA. The duties are as follows:

  • Ensure all covered games are operated in strict compliance with internal control standards that meet or exceed those set forth in the National Indian Gaming Commission’s Minimum Internal Control Standards.
  • Verify all required documents are retained in compliance with the requirements set forth in the Tribes Record Retention Policies and Procedures.
  • Ensure the summaries of rules for playing covered games and promotional contests are visibly displayed and made available to patrons upon request.
  • Ensure the Tribe engages in and maintains proactive approaches to prevent improper alcohol sales, driving under the influence, and underage drinking.
  • Ensure the Tribe employs adequate measures to prevent underage patrons from participating in covered games.
  • Verify all revenue paid to the State of Florida complies with Section XI of the Compact.
  • Ensure facility employees are licensed in accordance with the Seminole Tribal Gaming Code.
  • Conduct each audit/inspection in accordance with the audit program and inspection procedures as outlined by the Audit Administrator. 
  • Maintain detailed files of all audits/inspections to verify the scope, findings/observations, and disposition of each item.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of accounting or auditing methods, principles, and procedures. 
  • Knowledge of the methods used in verifying and analyzing data.
  • Knowledge of basic mathematics.
  • Ability to analyze, evaluate, and interpret financial data.
  • Ability to examine and audit financial records.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to understand and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. 
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. 
  • Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments.
  • Ability to present information in an organized manner.
  • Ability to conduct research and prepare comprehensive reports.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Four (4) years of professional or nonprofessional experience as described above; or
  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or relevant degree from an accredited college or university can substitute for the required experience; and
  • A Valid Driver’s License.

 

Note: This position requires extensive travel. The incumbent must be able to travel 75% of the time.
