Job Description

The Department of Children and Families (DCF) is seeking a highly organized and detail‑oriented Government Operations Consultant I, This position provides professional administrative, operational, and program support with a strong focus on workforce retention, deployment coordination, travel management, and data support.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support workforce retention efforts through proactive outreach, development planning, coaching, and tracking employee progress.
  • Assist with training and development initiatives and prepare reports on retention, engagement, and workforce trends.
  • Coordinate workforce deployment activities, including tracking assignments, monitoring staffing needs, and supporting regional deployment strategies.
  • Serve as the Regional Statewide Travel Management System (STMS) and Fleet coordinator, including account management, travel review/approval, auditing, and staff guidance.
  • Provide administrative and operational support to Child Protection Regional Operations, including HR liaison functions, meeting coordination, correspondence management, and calendar support.
  • Collect, organize, and analyze program and operational data to support reporting and special projects.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of office procedures, administrative practices, and data collection methods.
  • Ability to understand and apply rules, regulations, and policies.
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to collect, evaluate, and analyze data to support recommendations and operational improvements.
  • Ability to coordinate workforce deployment activities and support retention strategies.

Qualifications

  • Must have experience working in a Retention and Development Specialist role, or performing equivalent retention and development duties
  • Experience supporting workforce deployment, staffing coordination, or assignment tracking.
  • Regional travel required.
  • Background and fingerprinting required.
  • Standard work schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM.
