Where You Will Work:

This position is located, and requires the ability to work, in and throughout the Southwest Florida Counties (Lee, Collier, Charlotte, DeSoto, Sarasota, Hendry, Glades, Highlands, Monroe).

 

Pay:

$18.00 per hour; minimum of 28 hours to maximum 40 hours per week.

No benefits or insurance is included with this position.

 

Your Specific Responsibilities:

This position is assigned to the Compliance Assurance Program and is responsible for compliance activities in support of the Department’s Office of Environmental Accountability and Transparency and The Clean Waterways Act to enhance the effectiveness of our Level of Service inspections. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

Supports, conducts and/or documents compliance activities as assigned, pursuant to requirements of Chapters 373 and 403, Florida Statutes, including but not limited to:

  • Assisting and advising owners/operators with compliance issues as appropriate. 
  • Accurate and timely entry of required data and system information into agency databases and Oculus. 
  • Conducting site inspections for compliance and conditions of issued permits.
  • Recommending compliance and enforcement actions as appropriate. 
  • Drafting basic compliance and enforcement documents such as Compliance Assistance Letters, Warning Letters and Model Documents. 
  • Providing outreach and compliance assistance to owners/operators as needed.
  • Assisting staff with Quality Assurance (QA) Audits & State Review Framework (SRF) Audits.
  • Other duties, as needed.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  1. Ability to understand and apply applicable regulations, policies and procedures relating to environmental programs.
  2. Ability to evaluate, analyze and interpret technical reports and supporting documentation.
  3. Ability to determine work priorities and ensure proper completion of work assignments.
  4. Ability to work independently.
  5. Ability to prepare technical reports.
  6. Ability to communicate effectively and professionally, both verbally and in writing.
  7. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and leadership.
  8. Ability to interact with customers in a tactful and courteous manner.
  9. Ability to travel and maintain a valid driver’s license.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Valid Driver’s License

Please note that this is a part-time temporary position limited to 28-40 hours per week for the period of July 1, 2023 to June 30, 2024.
