Requirements:

  • Two (2) years of administrative and/or data/clerical experience.  A post-secondary degree from an accredited college or university may be used as an alternative for the required years of administrative and/or data/clerical experience on a year-for-year basis.
  • Two (2) or more years of experience reviewing any type of applications, documents, or requests received through an online system.

 

Preferences:

  • One (1) or more years of experience processing payments using Optical Character Recognition (OCR) equipment.
  • One (1) or more years of workers’ compensation experience.
  • One (1) or more years of customer service experience.
  • Bilingual with the ability to fluently speak and write Spanish and English.     

 

Minimum Qualifications for this position include the following REQUIRED ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

SPECIAL NOTES:

The anticipated annual salary range for this position is $36,317.26 - $42,000.00.

 

Employees of the Department of Financial Services are paid on a monthly pay cycle.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

This position requires a thorough knowledge of the compliance and liability provisions of the Workers’ Compensation Law, workers’ compensation compliance rules and procedures (s. 440.02, 440.05, 440.10, 440.107, 440.38 F.S. and 69L-6 F.A.C.).  The incumbent of this position is required to have access to the Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO) SunTax data.  As such, a Level 2 background check is required every five (5) years.  The incumbent of this position is also required to have access to the FL Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, Driver and Vehicle Information Database (DAVID) system. 

 

Receives and validates actual noncompliance penalty payments submitted by employers.  Processes payments utilizing the district’s Optical Character Recognition (OCR) equipment and track payment information using Excel.  Reconciles payments processed through the OCR equipment with the Coverage and Compliance Automated System (CCAS), analyzes payment and deposit data for accuracy and reports findings for corrective action.  Prepare monthly reports of check deposits for district management, Investigations Manager and Bureau Chief.  Accurately documents deposit info per payments in CCAS narratives. 

 

Examines employer business records including financial data submitted for penalty calculations to ensure compliance with the served Business Records Request (BRR) pursuant to section 440.107, Florida Statutes and Chapter 69L-6, F.A.C. and, if applicable, review documentation for the application of credit to be applied to the noncompliance penalty by the Penalty Audit Section. Provides education and interpretation on workers’ compensation insurance law, rules, governmental regulations, and internal policies and procedures to internal staff and external customers.

 

Examine Notices of Elections to be Exempt (exemption applications) to determine if exemption from workers’ compensation insurance qualifications is met. Reviews, processes, and analyzes exemption applications (utilizing DAVID system, Div. of Corp., and DBPR) to determine if applicants meet the qualifications for issuance of a workers’ compensation exemption by entering data into the Coverage and Compliance Automated System (CCAS).  Identifies deficiencies or incomplete information contained in the exemption application and issues a deficiency notice to the applicant.  Organizes, scans and upload employer payroll records and enforcement documents into the Automated Image Tracking System (AITS) and makes narrative entries pertinent to the case.  Maintains a working knowledge of CCAS and Chapter 440, F.S. and all administrative rules pertaining to workers’ compensation exemption process and responds to questions from employers regarding regulatory requirements.

 

Meets with walk-in customers or via telephone or email to respond to questions, complaints, or concerns regarding various aspects of workers’ compensation insurance.  Research and retrieves information from CCAS to resolve insurance policy and/or exemption discrepancies and/or assist customers.  Ensures accuracy of insurance policy and/or exemption from workers’ compensation insurance data is maintained in CCAS. Consults with city, county, and state officials and applicants regarding their respective license status and license requirements.  Consults with city, county, and state officials and applicants regarding their respective license status and license requirements Mails enforcement documents, via certified mail, as requested by Investigators. Sends enforcement documents to Process Server, as requested by Investigators.

 

Train employees on front desk policies and procedures; other duties as assigned by supervisor.
