Position Summary
Works under the direct supervision and clinical direction of the Regional Behavior Analyst, or Clinical Workstream Lead in the absence of a Regional Behavior Analyst, with clinical support from the Agency Senior Behavior Analyst, and also serving in a consultative role with group home providers, behavior analysts contracted with providers and with the Agency, as well as community stakeholders to assure that behavioral services are implemented in accordance with statute, rules, and operating procedures.
The Work You Will Do
Conducts face to face visits with consumers and families to assess Significant Additional Needs (SANS) request and Crisis Tools. Prepares behavioral summary reports for SANS and Crisis Tools; make recommendation for level, amount and frequency of services needed; conducts medical necessity reviews as needed; participates in placement committee meetings, Coordinate work activities to facilitate meeting the various deadlines for assignments. Provide consults on SANS to other behavior analysts for atypical complex requests for services.
Conducts preliminary reviews of behavior plans and relevant documents for completeness and clinical soundness prior to local Review Committee (LRC) meetings. Assists scheduling LRC behavior plan presentations. Attends the LRC meetings and actively participates in the review process of behavior plans. Attends any other meetings in which the behavioral expertise is required. Records and maintains the minutes of the LRC meetings and distributes electronically to providers. Maintains a data base of behavior plans approved.
Works under the direct supervision of the Clinical Supports Division Director in the Region and in consultative fashion with group home providers, behavior analysts contracted with providers and with the Agency, state office senior behavior analyst/designee, and community stakeholders to assure behavior analysis services are implemented in accordance with state rules, regulations, and memos of understanding. Address difficult problematic situations typically initialed by complaints from families, providers, other APD staff, or other agencies. Participate in special transition meetings and those initiated by the Regional Operations Manager to address unique situations involving behavioral services.
Provides leadership and oversight of Behavior Unit to ensure compliance across region.
Participates in the determination of eligibility process for intensive behavior and behavior focus residential habilitation and issues related documents on behalf of the region. Consult on incident reports making additional recommendations if appropriate to decrease the likelihood behaviors exhibited would re-occur and/or strategies for the home to utilize to prevent occurrence. Make recommendation to waiver support coordinator if needed to initiate new services or increase current services. Maintains the Board Behavior Analysis Certification in good standing.
Compiles monthly documentation of reactive strategies submitted by providers to area office, prepares monthly summary report and submits electronically to Central Office. Review reactive strategy report for frequency and duration and make recommendations when needed to behavior providers, waiver support coordinators, group home managers/owners in an effort to decrease frequency and duration of the restraints used. Designs data bases, checklists, training materials and other related tools to improve the delivery of behavioral services. Conducts literature reviews regarding specific behavior disorders and state of the art treatment to provide technical assistance to providers.
Trains providers on the reporting form and provides technical assistance on this matter. Provides training and technical assistance sessions to support coordinators, providers and agency staff regarding regulatory practices, behavioral services and QSI. Provides consults when requested by the QSI assessors. Conducts preliminary screenings of behavior assessments and assist in providing feedback to behavioral providers.
Complete performance appraisals, approve leave, and provide leadership to the staff being supervised.
Performs any other related activities as requested by the Regional Operations Manager and in consultation with the Clinical Supports Division Director. Other duties as necessary to support region functions, including but not limited to: Emergency Operations Activities and community crises.
Minimum Qualifications
- At least two years’ experience working with persons with developmental disabilities.
- Experience reviewing behavioral data, graphs, behavior programs, and providing written reports to address services needed to meet health and safety.
- Valid Driver’s License or other efficient means of transportation to travel for work purposes.
- Master’s in psychology, or Mental Health Counseling is preferred.
