Description of Duties:

Position is required to have a Criminal History Check in accordance with IMPP 6.46.2 B. 3.

he Division of Habitat and Species Conservation is comprised of six sections and two offices.

This position serves as the subsection administrator for the Aquatic Habitat Restoration/Enhancement Subsection (AHRE) within the Aquatic Habitat Conservation and Restoration Section (AHCR), Division of Habitat and Species Conservation (DHSC). The successful candidate will plan, administer, and direct the Section’s program for restoration, enhancement and management of freshwater resources, ensuring that the priorities, goals, and objectives of the Commission and program are met. 

 

Incumbent is responsible for overseeing the AHRE subsection including the development of the statewide AHRE budget and work plan prior to each fiscal year.  Incumbent is responsible for reviewing contracts and scopes of work and overseeing the encumbrance of all funds.  Responsible for tracking the progress of all projects throughout the year and adjusting budgets and projects based on environmental conditions or other parameters.  Provides inter and intra agency coordination for programs on selected resources.

 

The position is also responsible for maintaining and updating procedures and standards to ensure compliance with Florida Statutes and internal agency procedures. Coordinates interaction between and supervises project leaders who lead the various sub-section work units. Interacts with and provides guidance to AHRE staff.  Reviews all work unit plans and provides suggested changes for improvement in program direction.  Ensures all programs take into account a multi species approach and engages with stakeholders.  Works collaboratively with other agencies and across FWC Divisions and Offices to accomplish objectives.  Incumbent is responsible for leading or serving on various FWC teams or working groups to accomplish agency objectives.

 

The position is responsible for ensuring that the provisions and requirements in Section 215.422, Florida Statutes, related to the Comptroller’s rules and FWC’s invoice processing and warrant distribution procedures are followed.

 

The incumbent must possess strong skills in leadership, partnership development and maintenance, administration, and organization including time management. This position requires strong abilities to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing. The incumbent must be able to develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others.

 

This position courteously assists Commission constituents to resolve questions or problems they may have in matters relating to the Commission, its programs or fish and wildlife conservation generally. Seeks to garner public support for agency objectives and programs by serving Florida’s citizens in a positive and proactive manner.

 

Level of Education:  Prefer a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in one of the biological sciences with three years of professional biological experience in a field or laboratory program.

Prefer a Master's degree from an accredited college or university in one of the biological sciences with one year of professional biological experience in a field or laboratory program.

Professional experience as described above can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.
