Your Specific Responsibilities:

Cleans and services building areas according to established procedures. Moves furniture, supplies within the Department, and performs a variety of janitorial services duties to maintain the health department in a neat, orderly, and sanitary condition

 

•           Follow directed cleaning schedule, as provided by Supervisor, including but not limited to general cleaning and/or dusting of all walls, glass, furniture, equipment, restrooms; disinfecting of all hand touch surfaces; vacuuming/cleaning of floors and carpeting and emptying and properly handling biohazard waste containers.

•           Keep building and grounds, including entryways, sidewalks, driveways, parking lot areas neat and clean and free of trash and debris.

•           Secure assigned area at the end of work shift, secure and check that all secured doors have locked.

•           Daily removal and disposal of trash in area assigned.

•           Assist in maintaining an inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment and request additional supplies as needed from supervisor.

•           Advise supervisor when building requires a work order for a specific area/location.

•           Perform daily cleaning on all custodial equipment. Operate all equipment according to established safety procedures.

•           Assist in setting up and cleaning the conference rooms before and after events as needed.

•           Assist Maintenance department in moving furniture and supplies as needed.

•           Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Must have ability to follow written or oral instructions from supervisor.

•           Must have ability to complete mandatory annual trainings using a computer device.

•           Must have ability to perform routine custodial duties.

•           Must have ability to safely handle custodial related chemicals.

•           Knowledge and ability in the use of cleaning chemicals on various kinds of surfaces.

•           Knowledge and skills in cleaning procedures and techniques.

Qualifications:

Minimum –

•           Ability to operate various types of housekeeping equipment to include brooms, mops, vacuums, brushes and carpet shampooers.

•           Ability to follow and perform prepared daily work schedule.

•           Ability to maintain and re-supply a custodial closet.

•           Ability to read container labels (i.e. warnings, cautions, etc.).

•           Ability to communicate and work effectively with supervisor, co-workers, and staff.

•           Ability to walk, bend and climb stairs a considerable amount of the day.

•           Ability to lift to 50 pounds or greater to remove refuse from buildings and place in dumpsters.

•           Ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of work constantly to move objects.

•           Must have a valid driver’s license.

Preferred -

•           High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

•           Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.

•           Although no previous hospital or health care housekeeping experience is necessary, the janitorial worker will be expected to complete the department's training that will provide the tools to meet the minimum requirements of the job by the completion of the probationary period.
