Your Specific Responsibilities:

The North Central Florida IT Consortium is seeking Distributed Computer Systems Specialists with a work

assignment in Gainesville, FL with work locations throughout the support consortium. This position

provides both tier 1 and some limited tier 2 technical support to the users in an 11-county consortium

and will require travel and site visit work to multiple sites per week. This position records support in the

help ticket system, identifies reoccurring problems and makes recommendations for improvements.

Installs and implements distributed systems computer hardware, software, and communications

components including enhancements and upgrades. Analyzes and resolves hardware, software, and

communications problems using diagnostic software and/or technical trouble shooting processes.

Monitors hardware to ensure it is properly maintained. Performs related work as required.

 

This is a technical consortium level position supporting 11 County Health Departments. This position is intended to assist the System Administrator in supporting the CHD users with hardware, software, and networking functions. Support will require frequent travel to consortium CHDs for on-site support. Duties include assisting the System Administrator with LAN and WAN support at the local and regional level. Also, varied other duties as may be assigned.

Performs workstation setup and configurations, network settings and peripheral device installation within assigned consortium CHDs.

Monitors the use of software and hardware throughout the consortium – provides on-going identification and resolution of user needs through the use of on-site, phone, and remote user support.

Assist, coordinates, installs and implements distributed computer system hardware, software, and communications components including enhancements and upgrades.

Performs diagnostics and troubleshooting methods to resolve hardware & software problems in the consortium CHDs.

Maintains a work plan and schedule for consortium support. Generates, tracks and processes assigned help tickets through our Help Desk Application.

Assist in the preparation of and provides training for the proper use of computer equipment and assist in system documentation and distribution as directed by Supervisor.

Other duties as assigned

Responsible for securing the designated information set for the purposes of protecting confidentiality, data integrity and appropriate access for all information both confidential and public record which is stored in hard copy or electronic format.

Responds to notifications of suspected or confirmed viruses. Acts accordingly to quarantine devices which are  infected.

As an Information Custodian, develops, maintains and ensures adherence to Department of Health and ACHD security policies, protocols, and procedures. Delegates, as necessary, authority to assist with information custodian duties and other duties and responsibilities as outlined in Department of Health Protocol – Security 3.V.

Personal vehicle must be used for travel in the event a State vehicle is unavailable. Mileage will be compensated at the current state approved reimbursement rate.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

The successful applicant will be able to communicate clearly both orally and in written form, will be

customer-service focused, will be self-motivated, and able to work in both a team environment and

independently, is punctual and reliable.

Must be willing to accept a starting hourly rate of $18.00/hour.

Must be able to lift 20 pounds consistently, without issue.

Must have a valid driver’s license to operate a motor vehicle and be willing to use a state vehicle to

travel to remote sites.

Must be willing to be available for weekend and/or after-hours work.

Must have experience providing technical support to users.

Must have training in debugging problems, identifying solutions and coordinating defect resolution across multiple system releases or have equivalent work experience.

Must have at least one year of experience in a technical or related field.

Qualifications:

Minimum – Driver’s License

Preferred - Industry Standard certifications preferred: CompTIA, Microsoft, Citrix

A minimum of 1 year experience working in information technology
