The Work You Will Do:

Field Operations Coordinator / Engineering And Operations / Bureau Of Materials And Research / State Materials Office / Structural, Chemical & Corrosion.

 

This position is responsible for overseeing activities related to the flexible pipe and composite materials programs including quality assurance, technical support, and research. The selected candidate will perform field and laboratory testing as needed and ensure timely and accurate reporting. This selected candidate will also manage Department resources and contribute to the development of specifications, manuals, and procedures.

Your Specific Responsibilities:

Supervise employees by communicating with, motivating, training, and evaluating employee, and planning and directing employee work.

 

Inspects completed materials or components for compliance with Department specifications. Inspects facilities and operations for compliance with their quality control plan and specification requirements. Documents and reports findings in appropriate database.

 

Reviews quality control plans, construction plans, specifications, procedures, manuals, and any other documents necessary. Provides clear comments as requested in time to be useful to the customer. Provides technical solutions when project specific plans, specifications, procedures, or processes do not concur with the Department’s policies and procedures.

 

Analyzes material data for contract and procedural compliance for the Flexible Pipe and Composite Materials Programs. Takes timely action to correct any errors in the data. Actively facilitates the notification of stakeholders of errors, failures, or negative trends.

 

Provides materials related technical support to customers as requested and in time to meet the customer’s needs. Provides guidance and training to customers when necessary.

 

Performs field and/or laboratory testing in accordance with the applicable Florida Sampling and Testing Methods, American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials or American Society for Testing and Materials test methods and reports results accurately and timely in the appropriate database.

 

The Successful Candidate will have the following required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

 

Knowledge of:

  • The concepts, terminology, principles, and analytical techniques of flexible pipe and composite materials.
  • Engineering design, construction, production and/or operations.

Skills in:

  • Operate a personal computer for word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.

Ability to:

  • Analyze and interpret engineering data.
  • Solve problems relating to engineering.
  • Perform engineering inspections.
  • Plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments.
  • Communicate engineering information effectively.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Work and be effective in a team environment.

 

Other Job-Related Requirements:

  • Travel as required.
  • This position will be required to respond before, during, and following emergency situations.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Prior experience using engineering or manufacturing tools, equipment and/or instruments.
  • Prior experience operating a personal computer for word processing, spreadsheet, and/or database applications
  • Prior experience with evaluating construction materials
  • Possess a High school Diploma or Certificate of High School Equivalency.
