DISTRICT 2 ADMINISTRATION OFFICE
This position is responsible for providing a high level of coordination and assistance to the Bureau Chief, Assistant Bureau Chief and all District 2 parks. The incumbent will be the HR Liaison, IT Liaison, coordinator of state cell phones, assist with firearm approvals, assist with special projects, and assist with tracking prescribed fire numbers.

The District 2 Administration Office is located within Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park by the La Chua Trail. Paynes Prairie is unique in many ways. Nowhere else in Florida can visitors experience wild-roaming bison and horses. Nearly 300 species of birds also frequent the park along with alligators, deer and many other animals. The LaChua Trail is 3 miles round-trip from the north rim of the prairie to the observation tower. This trail provides scenic views of wet prairie and marsh habitat including Alachua Sink and Alachua Lake.

Your Specific Responsibilities:
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
In carrying out the duties of this position, the incumbent is expected at all times to be aware of and abide by the Department’s Standards of Conduct, as well as any and all departmental and/or work unit rules, directives, policies, procedures, and/or general orders applicable to performing the duties of this position. Compliance with the processing requirements of Chapter 215.422, F.S. is mandatory. Persistent failure to comply with this section by any agency of the state shall constitute good cause for discharge of employees duly found responsible, or predominantly responsible, for failure to comply.
Serves as the HR coordinator for the Division of Recreation and Parks’ District Office, consisting of personnel management of approximately 200 full time employees in addition to varying numbers of OPS employees depending on the time of year. Provides guidance and expert advice to park management and administrative staff in each park within the district for all HR related topics. Acts as the HR liaison between district staff and Land and Recreation’s HR office and DEP’s Bureau of Human Resource Management.
Coordinates with over 30 parks to conduct recruitment, advertisements, hiring, promotions, reassignments, retirements, terminations and voluntary demotions. Oversees employee confidential information to include social security numbers, information protected from public records, employee personnel files, medical information relating to workers comp, FMLA, medical monitoring and other information that may be included on employment applications. Reviews and provides guidance for timesheets for all full-time and OPS positions in the District to ensure they are entered correctly. Maintains official leave records for District. Assists in coordinating performance evaluation completion for all positions within the District. Oversees position descriptions for all positions within the District, working with Park Management to review and amend as necessary.
In addition to the HR responsibilities – this position also oversees the following programs for all parks and personnel within the District: Travel/ training administration, Incident reports, exotic removal weapons authorization, District emergency contact list, monthly reporting from Parks, records all District meetings and distributes information as applicable, housing perquisites, shoe allowance for District, and District records retention.
This position also handles special assignments from District management and Tallahassee offices as assigned and other duties as assigned, provides Administrative support to FPS District 2 park webpages.
