HUMAN SERVICES WORKER II

APD TACACHALE - MAPLE

GAINESVILLE, FLORIDA

 

The incumbent in this position performs direct care duties at a specialized secure unit, serving residents who have been adjudicated incompetent to proceed to trial for alleged criminal offenses due to their intellectual disabilities. 

 

Monitors residents, documents resident’s behaviors, records census, assists residents with routine activities and intervenes in crisis situations. Makes regular inspections of areas to ensure the physical plant is safe and secure. Completes various required reports on a daily basis.

    

Assist treatment team in carrying out prescribed functions and specialized programs. These may include, but are not limited to self-care and daily living skills, vocational and leisure development.

    

Participates in the maintenance of a clean and hygienic living environment for the residents.

    

Performs other related duties as required.

 MINIMUM REQUIREMENT(S)

A valid Florida Driver’s License to apply for this position. (If initially hired with an out-of-state license the Florida resident must obtain a valid Florida State driver’s license within 30-days of hire. License suspended or revoked for any reason, work permits (Business purpose/ Employment/Education only license) and some types of restricted license are not acceptable. License that have “Corrective Lenses Restricted,” are acceptable, provided the driver wears the corrective lenses while operating the vehicle.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

A high school diploma, or its equivalent, and at least one year working with the developmentally disabled population.

WORK SCHEDULE

This position is located at a 24- hour facility.  Working hours: 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Days Off: Tuesday and Wednesday.

Employees may be required to work additional days/hours based upon the needs of the home and center.  This includes, but is not limited to:  ensuring home coverage, activities, holidays, and emergency situations.

Background screening shall include, but not be limited to: Fingerprinting for State and Federal criminal and juvenile records through the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE), and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and may include local criminal records check through local law enforcement agencies.  Also, employees are subject to background re-screening at least every five (5) years.
