Position Summary
This is a technical position that works withing the Agency for Persons with Disabilities I formation Technology Office. This position provides desktop computing services and file/print server support for APD Developmental Disabilities Centers and Area Offices.
The Work You Will Do
- Provides technical support for information technology hardware, software, and network equipment to enable APD employees to utilize the APD Internet, Intranet and business information systems. This includes installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading all computer hardware, software and networking equipment to ensure optimal workstation performance.
- Troubleshooting reported problems (in person, by telephone, e-mail, or remote desktop administration in a timely and accurate fashion) and provide end-user assistance where required by negotiated Service Level Agreement with DDC and Area Offices.
- Active Directory and Windows computer system administration.
- Performs backup/restores of files and data as required.
- Implement projects and deploy equipment.
- Recommend equipment and obtain quotes for APD IT purchases ensuring adherence to APD IT Standards.
- Works with APD General Services to implement asset management procedures for IT equipment.
- Works with APD Information Security Manager to implement and carry out information security processes and procedures to safeguard the confidential integrity and availability of APD data.
- Work with APD Information Technology Office to provide telecommunications support to the APD DDCs and Area Offices. This includes videoconferencing and telephone support.
- Other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be able to travel statewide if required to administer remote users and/or APO offices.
- Must have experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
- High School Diploma or equivalent with two (2) years of experience in Information Technology preferred. Relevant education may substitute for experience.
- Preferred: IT Certification (A+, Network+, CCNA, etc.)
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
Knowledge of:
- Microsoft Windows Server/ Windows Desktop, and Microsoft Windows Security Office 365, Adobe Acrobat, Google Chrome, SharePoint, and Microsoft Edge.
- DNS and TCP/IP networking.
- Computer, server, and networking hardware.
Ability to:
- Present ideas in a business-friendly and user-friendly language.
- Communicate clearly and concisely verbally and in writing.
- Interact, assess, and respond to individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Lift and transport moderately heavy objects, such as computers and peripherals.
Demonstrate Skills in:
- Hardware and software troubleshooting.
- Network troubleshooting.
- Inventory management.
- Record keeping and thorough documentation.

As a condition of employment, a person appointed to a position in the State Personnel System is required to participate in the Direct Deposit Program. Rather than receiving a paper paycheck, your funds will be deposited directly into your account at your financial institution. This will be accomplished by Electronic Funds Transfer. Banks, savings and loan associations, and credit unions are eligible to accept such deposits. Retirement funds are also required to be in the Direct Deposit Program.
Background Screening Requirement
It is the policy of the Florida Agency for Persons with Disabilities that applicants for employment undergo Level 2 employment screening in accordance with the requirements of Chapter 435, Florida Statutes, as a condition of employment or being permitted to serve as a volunteer.
