MAINTENANCE MECHANIC

APD TACACHALE

GAINESVILLE FLORIDA

 

This position may require bending, squatting or standing for extended periods of time and may require lifting of up to 100 pounds. 

The incumbent in this position may be responsible for, but not limited to the following:

 

Installing and repairing all types of plumbing fixtures such as heaters, flush valves, gait valves, globe valves, hot water circulation pumps, mixing valves, relief valves, supply lines and P traps.  Installing water lines, upkeep of main water lines throughout campus.  Installing new water lines on renovation projects.

 

Install new lines and repair broken lines.  Example:  sewer lines, unstopping sewer lines, lavatories, kitchen sinks, washing machines, floor drains, dish machines, food disposal, air vent lines and condensation lines, etc.

 

Prepare supply and purchase requisition for materials that will need to be ordered to complete all tasks and projects.

Operate hand and power tools associated in the plumbing trade.

 

Upon completion of the job or at the end of the day, ensure that all tools and materials are stored properly.  Ensures that no hazardous conditions exist, clean up all trash and debris, no slippery surfaces or open holes in pathways, no exposed wires or hot surfaces.

 

Perform other related duties as required or requested by supervisor.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

 

Knowledge of, and ability to use power tools.

Knowledge and skills of plumbing and plumbing fixtures.

Ability to perform physical work, such as lifting and moving furniture and building materials.

Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

Ability to read blueprints, and schematics.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENT(S):

A valid Florida Driver’s License to apply for this position. (If initially hired with an out-of-state license the Florida resident must obtain a valid Florida State driver’s license within 30-days of hire. License suspended or revoked for any reason, work permits (Business purpose/ Employment/Education only license) and some types of restricted license are not acceptable. License that have “Corrective Lenses Restricted,” are acceptable, provided the driver wears the corrective lenses while operating the vehicle.

 

WORK SCHEDULE

 

This position is located at a 24- hour facility.  Working hours are Monday thru Friday. Shift starts at 8:00 a.m., and ends at 4:30 p.m. Off days are Saturday and Sunday.
