Responsibilities:

 

The incumbent assigned to this position is responsible for, but not limited to the following:

 

Repairs automobiles, trucks, heavy equipment, and other automotive equipment. These repairs include, but are not limited to adjusting, repairing, or replacing the following: clutches, brakes, generators, alternators, rear drive train, ignition systems, radiators, headlights, and other automotive parts and equipment. Performs preventative maintenance on the vehicles such as oil changes, tune-ups, and rotating tires. Performs periodic inspections to ensure proper functioning of all vehicles and automotive equipment. Perform automotive detailing as needed.

 

Performs preventative maintenance on the tractors and lawn mowers. This includes but is not limited to changing belts and blades and ensuring the mower decks are operational and hazard free. Performs weekly inspections of the lawn equipment to ensure the blades are sharpened and do not require replacement or repair.

Maintains a safe work environment and ensures all work areas are clean and free of any hazardous conditions.

 

Assists with relocation of residents’ belongings as needed, and movement of any furniture/equipment.

 

Performs other duties as required or requested by supervisor.

 

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

 

Knowledge of the principles and basic techniques of automotive repair work.

 

Skill in the use of hand tools and mechanical equipment.

 

Ability to inspect and tune up equipment.

 

Ability to perform a variety of automotive equipment repairs.

 

Ability to operate motor vehicles.

 

Ability to effectively communicate both in writing and verbally.

 

Ability to understand written and verbal instructions.

 

 

Minimum Requirements:

 

A valid Florida Driver’s License. (If initially hired with an out-of-state license the Florida resident must obtain a valid Florida State driver’s license within 30-days of hire. License suspended or revoked for any reason, work permits (Business purpose/Employment/Education only license) and some types of restricted license are not acceptable. License that has “Corrective Lenses Restricted,” are acceptable, provided the driver wears the corrective lenses while operating the vehicle.)

 

This position may be required to perform essential services before, during, and after an emergency per APD OP 2-0035.

 

This position is critical to the safety and supervision of residents and may require the incumbent to work beyond their normal work schedule to maintain minimum coverage levels in the facility.
