SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The incumbent assigned to this position is responsible for, but not limited to the following: 

Employees of the Agency for Persons with Disabilities are required to demonstrate total commitment to outstanding customer service. 

This includes, but not limited to, acting in a responsive, professional, courteous manner with the employees, customers and public we serve at all times.

Will serve as delegated authority for the Operations and Management Consultant Manager - SES in their absence to include signature delegation authority.

Plans workloads, sets deadlines, work objectives and time utilization in order to achieve the most effective results.

Reviews administrative policies, procedures, guidelines and related directives to be implemented; evaluates impact on operations; identifies potential problems; recommends appropriate action.

Identifies statewide operational problems in the implementation of administrative services policies and procedures or program policies and procedures.

Investigates, assesses, analyzes and makes recommendations to resolve issues and problems presented by administrators.

Provides direction, guidance and counsel to administrators and their staffs in the management and operation of service programs and responsibilities.

Performs firsthand, on-site analysis of operational problems of service programs; serves on interdisciplinary staff teams to develop optimum resolutions; carries out the implementation of solutions. Consults with staff members to develop solutions for programmatic operational problems.

Performs related work as required.

Plan and manage the preventative maintenance and repair program to include an electronic work order system and 24-hour on-call maintenance staffing.

 

Serves as an Executive Council Team member.

 

Compile and submit the Florida State Owned Lands and Records Information System (SOLARIS) report for Tacachale.

 

Serves as the primary point of contact for the Department of Health.

 

Assigns and reviews work requests and special projects as requested by the supervisor. Conducts on-site inspections to ensure the job is being completed according to standards and in the most cost effective and efficient manner.

 

Computes estimates and actual cost of factors, such as materials, labor and outside contractors. Completes and maintains reports as necessary. Assist with the annual FCO (Fixed Capital Outlay) request to Tallahassee.

 

Conducts inventories and requisitions, materials and supplies as necessary; receives and check materials ordered upon receipt. Requisitions or purchase tools, equipment and materials for proper care of buildings and grounds.

 

Perform other related duties as required or requested by supervisor.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • A valid Florida Driver’s License.
    • If hired with an out-of-state license a valid Florida State driver’s license must be obtained within 30 days.
    • Corrective Lenses Restricted license are acceptable provided the driver wears the corrective lenses while operating a state vehicle.
  • Must be willing to perform essential services before, during, and after an emergency.
  • Must be willing to work beyond the normal work schedule to maintain minimum coverage levels and meet the needs of the Agency.
  • Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must have three (3) or more years’ experience in the supervision of multiple building trades
  • Must have three (3) or more years’ experience in supervising/managing a department of 10 or more

Preferred:

  • Three (3) or more years’ experience managing the physical plant of a facility where surveys/inspections are conducted by regulatory agencies such as Department of Health, Fire Marshall’s Office, Agency for Health Care Administration, etc.
  • Three or more years’ experience in building maintenance
  • Three or more years’ experience in life safety field

 

This position may be required to perform essential services before, during, and after an emergency per APD OP 2-0035.

 

This position is critical to the safety and supervision of residents and may require the incumbent to work beyond their normal work schedule to maintain minimum coverage levels in the facility.

DIRECT DEPOSIT PROGRAM

As a condition of employment, a person appointed to a position in the State Personnel System is required to participate in the Direct Deposit Program.  Rather than receiving a paper paycheck, your funds will be deposited directly into your account at your financial institution. This will be accomplished by Electronic Funds Transfer. Banks, savings and loan associations, and credit unions are eligible to accept such deposits. Retirement funds are also required to be in the Direct Deposit Program.

 

BACKGROUND SCREENING REQUIREMENT

It is the policy of the Florida Agency for Persons with Disabilities that applicants for employment undergo Level 2 employment screening in accordance with the requirements of Chapter 435, Florida Statutes, as a condition of employment or being permitted to serve as a volunteer.

Level 2 background screening shall include, but not be limited to, fingerprinting for Statewide criminal and juvenile records checks through the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, and Federal criminal records checks through the Federal Bureau of Investigation and may include local criminal records checks through local law enforcement agencies.
