SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Chair and facilitate monthly Local Review Committee (LRC) meetings.  Maintain the Behavior Support Plan (BSP) review schedule to ensure at minimum an annual review and committee approval for all Plans that include a restrictive component.  Provide guidance and support related to recommended revisions to the BSP.  Distribute and maintain meeting minutes and LRC approval forms.

Provide clinical oversight of behavioral services provided by the Behavioral Specialists across residential facilities through leadership and mentorship. Provide feedback and guidance on the implementation of functional assessments, data graphing and analysis, and the development and implementation of written behavior support plans.

Provide consultation with the various Facility Interdisciplinary Teams regarding the use of reactive strategies to include medical protective devices and mechanical restraints to ensure the least restrictive methods and practices are used along with fading procedures.

Participate in the Statewide APD Behavioral Services monthly conference call meetings. Act as the liaison between the state office behavior analysis staff and Tacachale regarding behavioral services, rules, and regulations. Collaborate with Information Technology staff in the development of software for behavioral services.

Remain current with research literature in the behavior analysis field and other areas that may benefit individuals receiving services. Continue to learn best practices in competency-based staff training on behavior intervention, generalization, and maintenance strategies. Maintain professional association with other professionals in the field.

Assist with the recruiting, interviewing and orientation of Behavioral Specialists across residential facilities.

Respond to requests for the use of emergency reactive strategies related to residents’ displaying severe problem behaviors that could result in harming self or others.  Provide onsite visits, and written approval for reactive strategies in accordance with Rule 65G-4 and 65G-8, F.A.C. and the Ethics Code for Behavior Analysts.

Compile restraint data and review for accuracy.  Submit monthly Reactive Strategy report to the Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD) Senior Behavior Analyst and Tacachale Administration. 

Serve on committees and subcommittees as directed when issues arise which involve behavioral expertise.

Assist with the recruiting, interviewing and orientation of Behavioral Specialists across residential facilities.

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Board Certified Behavior Analyst
  • three years of experience with Behavior Analysis procedures
  • master’s degree in a Health Services field

OR

  • Florida licensed psychologist, school psychologist, clinical social worker, marriage and family therapist or mental health counselor.

As a condition of employment, a person appointed to a position in the State Personnel System is required to participate in the Direct Deposit Program.  Rather than receiving a paper paycheck, your funds will be deposited directly into your account at your financial institution. This will be accomplished by Electronic Funds Transfer. Banks, savings and loan associations, and credit unions are eligible to accept such deposits. Retirement funds are also required to be in the Direct Deposit Program.

 

BACKGROUND SCREENING REQUIREMENT

It is the policy of the Florida Agency for Persons with Disabilities that applicants for employment undergo Level 2 employment screening in accordance with the requirements of Chapter 435, Florida Statutes, as a condition of employment or being permitted to serve as a volunteer.

Level 2 background screening shall include, but not be limited to, fingerprinting for Statewide criminal and juvenile records checks through the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, and Federal criminal records checks through the Federal Bureau of Investigation and may include local criminal records checks through local law enforcement agencies.
