This position is located at a 24-hour facility.  Employees must be agreeable to working an evening shift schedule. Days Off: Rotate.

Responsibilities:

The incumbent holds a position of trust and adheres to the policies and procedures that govern the Agency for Persons with Disabilities and Tacachale to ensure the safety of the residents, employees and visitors of Tacachale.

    

Patrols the grounds to ensure unoccupied buildings are secured, and to look for potentially hazardous situations or suspicious activity.  Controls access to Tacachale, processes outgoing and incoming resident trips, assists emergency responders, and responds to all calls for assistance center wide.  Answers incoming calls connects callers to desired parties, documents resident incident reports, maintains several logs, monitors the fire alarm panel, and notifies officers as necessary.  In emergencies, contacts the appropriate staff, which includes but is not limited to, all on-call staff, licensed independent practitioners, nurses, center monitors, administration, maintenance and the Officer of the Day.

    

Compiles and prepares reports, both manually and via computer.  This includes but is not limited to, Daily Activity Log, Automobile Accident Report, Security Field Report, Security Zone Checklist, Security Services Notification of Incident, and Unsecured Building Report.

 

Assists or performs routine fire drills as required, throughout campus.

    

Conducts vehicle inspections weekly, with cursory inspections daily.  Maintains the cleanliness and condition of security vehicles

    

Performs other related duties as required.

 

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

Ability to lift 40lbs.

 

Ability to pass Prevention and Safety Strategies (PASS).

 

Ability to use a computer and transfer calls.

 

Minimum Requirements:

A valid Florida Driver’s License

 

This position may be required to perform essential services before, during, and after an emergency per APD OP 2-0035.

 

This position is critical to the safety and supervision of residents and may require the incumbent to work beyond their normal work schedule to maintain minimum coverage levels in the facility.

Background Screening Requirement:  It is the policy of the Florida Agency for Persons with Disabilities that candidates being considered for employment must successfully complete a State and National criminal history check as a condition of employment before beginning employment, and be screened in accordance with the requirements of Chapter 435, Florida Statutes, and if applicable Chapter 408, F.S.

Background screening shall include, but not be limited to: Fingerprinting for State and Federal criminal and juvenile records through the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE), and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and may include local criminal records check through local law enforcement agencies.  Also, employees are subject to background re-screening at least every five (5) years.
