REFRIGERATION MECHANIC

APD TACACHALE

GAINESVILLE FLORIDA

 

This position may require squatting or standing for extended periods of time and may require lifting of up to 100 pounds. The incumbent in this position is responsible for, but not limited to the following:

 

Install, maintain and repair walk-in freezers, walk-in coolers, chillers, condensers, air handlers, window a/c units, ice machines and commercial refrigerators.

 

Install, maintain and repair pump motors, air handler motors and valve motors. Read schematic and wiring diagrams to trace electric control circuits for bad components and trouble shoot for fault in them. Test relays, start and run capacitors. Check, maintain refrigerant levels and use refrigerant recovery systems to Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) standards on above systems.

 

Change filters, clean coils, change belts, maintain and replace thermostats.

 

Perform other related duties as requested by the supervisor.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

 

Knowledge of the procedures and methods for installing, repairing and maintaining refrigeration and air-conditioning units and components parts.

Skilled in using hand tools.

 

Skill in installing, repairing and maintaining refrigeration units and component parts.

 

Ability to read blueprints and schematic drawings.

 

Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.

 

Ability to communicate effectively.

 

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENT(S)

A valid Florida Driver’s License. (If initially hired with an out-of-state license the Florida resident must obtain a valid Florida State driver’s license within 30-days of hire. License suspended or revoked for any reason, work permits (Business purpose/ Employment/Education only license) and some types of restricted license are not acceptable. License that have “Corrective Lenses Restricted,” are acceptable, provided the driver wears the corrective lenses while operating the vehicle.

 

WORK SCHEDULE

 

This position is located at a 24- hour facility. Working hours: Monday thru Friday, 8:00 a.m., to 4:30 p.m. Off days: Saturday and Sunday.
