Within DCF, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health (SAMH) Program office is recognized as the single state authority for substance abuse and mental health services. The Office of SAMH is statutorily responsible for the planning, evaluation, and implementation of a comprehensive statewide system of care for the prevention, treatment, and recovery of children and adults with serious mental illnesses or substance use disorders.

North Florida Evaluation and Treatment Center (NFETC) is a 216 bed, all male, forensic, mental health rehabilitation facility. The Center is located in northeast Gainesville, Florida on 639 picturesque acres with regular sightings of deer, turkey and other wildlife. NFETC employs a variety of entry level to leadership positions including food service, maintenance, direct care, nurses, counselors, rehab therapists, medical doctors, security, psychiatrists, and psychologists.

Join our team as a Registered Nurse Supervisor and lead a dedicated group of healthcare professionals in a specialized medical and mental health facility. This full-time role involves supervising nursing personnel, ensuring high-quality care for residents, and managing daily unit operations.

 

Specific Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Supervise Nursing Staff: Direct RNs, LPNs, and non-licensed personnel, conduct evaluations, ensure compliance with licensure and CEU requirements.
  • Resident Care Management: Oversee medication administration, emergency response, and resident assessments to maintain quality care.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct rounds, review documentation, and ensure adherence to policies and procedures.
  • Emergency Response: Provide immediate care during crises, including medical emergencies and psychiatric interventions.
  • Other related duties as required.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required for the position:

  • Knowledge of nursing principles, practices and techniques.
  • Knowledge of human anatomy and physiology.
  • Ability to supervise people.
  • Ability to provide direct patient care and treatment.
  • Ability to assess patients' progress and evaluate nursing care plans.
  • Ability to work with patients having a variety of physical problems.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in accordance with Florida Statute 464 and two years of Registered Nursing, with leadership experience.
