This position is responsible for coordinating the duties and responsibilities of the Human Service Worker II positions for the assigned shift.  Takes lead in the areas of timekeeping to include reviewing time sheets for accuracy and approval in People First.  Communicates with and instructs subordinate staff, through routine meetings and in-service training; staff schedules, protocols and procedures, personnel issues, work performance and effective delivery of resident directed services. Ensures subordinate staff provide transportation of residents to the off-home programs on center. Ensures subordinate staff follow safety practices related to employee and resident safety.  Ensures subordinate staff follow infection control procedures. Attends to staffing and leave requirements and performs all shift change requirements to include maintaining adequate staffing.  Tracks and provides feedback related to employee performance. 


Assists subordinate staff with direct care duties including, but not limited to:  direct supervision of an assigned group of residents, assists residents with self-care/daily living skills and leisure skills; accompanies residents to medical appointments, worksites, alternative leisure programs and implements behavioral supports as needed. Takes necessary action to correct any problems.


Coordinates and tracks subordinate staff’s attendance of mandatory trainings and/or certification in Prevention and Safety Strategies, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Direct Care In-service.  Coordinates and tracks subordinate staff’s completion of an annual health screening.


Conducts inspections and monitors all areas of the physical plant, ensures proper maintenance and cleanliness of the living areas and ensures the completion and follow up of corrective actions. 


Ensures that all active treatment programs, formal and in-formal, as prescribed by the Interdisciplinary Team are implemented correctly and in a timely manner in compliance with state, federal and Medicaid regulations.  Monitors the implementation of formal and informal programs and procedures for correct implementation and data collection.  Completes and maintains all required monitoring documentation in a correct and timely manner in accordance with assigned deadlines.   Monitors resident schedules and subordinate staff’s data entry.  Ensures subordinate staff stay current with information regarding the residents.


Attends various meetings, including annual Individual Support Plan meetings, and other interdisciplinary team meetings that are required and confers with team members concerning the well-being of the residents that are served by the off-home providers.  Participates in and works as a team member with professional and paraprofessionals in resolving employee and resident related problems.


Maintains annual training for and actual use of Prevention and Safety Strategies (PASS) to address residents who display aggression, self-injury, or property destruction and require interventions using a combination of verbal and physical techniques to address problem behaviors.  Lifts to forty pounds.  Lifting is required to ensure provision of physical and nutritional management.   Works closely with off home providers, specifically Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy and Adaptive Devices to ensure that maximum care is available to the residents.  Maintains certification for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation.  Attends annual Direct Care In-service.

Must be able to prepare and maintain records and reports.

Must be able to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures.

Must be able to perform various administrative functions related to the operation of resident living units

Must be able to supervise others and their work.

Must have knowledge of the Developmental Disabled population.

Must have knowledge of human growth and development theories.




You must have a valid Florida Driver’s License to apply for this position. (If initially hired with an out-of-state license the Florida resident must obtain a valid Florida State driver’s license within 30-days of hire. License suspended or revoked for any reason, work permits (Business purpose/Employment/Education only license) and some types of restricted license are not acceptable. License that have “Corrective Lenses Restricted,” are acceptable, provided the driver wears the corrective lenses while operating the vehicle.




Three years of experience working in a medical, psychiatric, nursing or child care setting, or in working with developmentally disabled persons, or the equivalent in education from an accredited college or university in the field of nursing, education, or a social, behavioral, or rehabilitative science.




This position is located at a 24- hour facility.  Staff members must be agreeable to working a shift schedule; regular, evening, or night. There may also be times when unplanned double shifts are necessary.
