SENIOR CERTIFIED NURSING ASSISTANT

APD TACACHALE – HEALTH CENTER

GAINESVILLE, FLORIDA

 

The individual assigned to this position is responsible for performing prescribed care and treatment of patients under the direction of professional nursing staff and transportation for all off campus medical appointments.

 

Perform direct care and treatment and monitors the health status of patients under the supervision and direction of professional nursing staff. Perform simple nursing measures such as but not limited to: applying splints and positioning devices, making occupied and unoccupied beds, changing linens, taking vital signs, weights, recording intake and output, etc. Follow established performance standards and perform duties according to nursing service policies and procedures. Observe all facility safety, infection control policy and procedures.

 

Provide the assistance necessary when giving residents the following activities of daily living nursing care: oral hygiene; bathing; dressing and grooming; hair and nail care; shaving; toileting; assistance with meals, nourishments and transportation to meal service areas; and mobility. Assist in obtaining urine, blood, and other specimens. Respond to residents’ needs promptly and reports concerns and observations to supervisor.

 

Transport residents to outside medical appointments.

 

Participate in emergency response on campus including but not limited to driving the emergency vehicle.

 

Participate in the development and implementation of the care plan as outlined by the nursing plan of care. Carries out and documents programs and activities as indicated on individual support plan.

 

Assist medical and nursing personnel during minor surgical procedures, and specialty clinics.

 

Assist in general maintenance; cleaning and organization of physical plant, equipment and supplies. Assembles and sterilizes instrument trays for minor surgery.

 

Assist in maintain inventory of medical, nursing, and central supplies.

 

Perform all other related duties as directed by immediate supervisor or designee, including training.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

 

Must have the ability to perform the following physical tasks continually or frequently throughout the work day: climbing, grasping, kneeling, pushing/pulling, reaching above head, lifting at least 40 pounds, standing, stooping or bending at waist.

 

Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate activities.

 

Ability to follow behavior support plans.

 

Ability to implement resident programs.

 

Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

 

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

A valid Florida Driver’s License. (If initially hired with an out-of-state license the Florida resident must obtain a valid Florida State driver’s license within 30-days of hire. License suspended or revoked for any reason, work permits (Business purpose/ Employment/ Education only license) and some types of restricted license are not acceptable. License that have “Corrective Lenses Restricted,” are acceptable, provided the driver wears the corrective lenses while operating the vehicle.

 

A Certified Nursing Assistant Certification.

 

WORK SCHEDULE

 

This position is located at a 24- hour facility.  Working Hours: 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Days Off: Saturday and Sunday.

 

Employee may be required to work additional days/hours based upon the needs of the center.
