SALARY RANGE

$37,107.20 - $40,817.92 Annually      $1,427.20 - $1,569.92 Biweekly

 

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This position may require bending, squatting, or standing for extended periods of time and may require lifting of up to 50 pounds.  The incumbent in this position is responsible for, but not limited to the following:

Replaces blown light bulbs, light switches, wall outlets, ceiling light fixtures, ballasts, worn out sockets and replaces worn out electrical cords and plugs on equipment.  Checks all electrical motors.  Run wire for all new electrical motors.  Maintains all electrical panels, ensures breakers are functioning properly.  Maintain and repair exit lights and emergency auxiliary lights.

Installation of all major electrical wiring for new construction and renovations.  Assist in maintaining all underground and overhead lines.  Locates and corrects power failures and short circuits.  Performs electrical work on photo-electric cells, time clocks and emergency repairs to elevators and generators.

Assist with installation and makes repairs to hot water and domestic water lines, threaded, slip joint and soldered.  Unstop sewer lines, lift stations, commodes, and drainpipes of washing machines, lavatories, dishwashers, floor drains, water coolers, waste food disposals, air vents and bathtubs.  Installation and repair of all types of plumbing fixtures, such as heaters, flush valves, PIV valves and backflow prevention devices.  Take water temperature readings and adjust, if necessary, to proper settings.

Upon completion of the job or at the end of the workday, ensure that all tools and materials are stored properly.  Ensures that no hazardous conditions exist, clean up all trash and debris, no slippery surfaces or open holes in pathways, no exposed wires, or hot surfaces.

Assists with the relocation of residents’ belongings as needed, and movement of any furniture/equipment at Tacachale.

Perform other related duties as required or requested by supervisor.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • A valid Florida Driver’s License.
    • If hired with an out-of-state license a valid Florida State driver’s license must be obtained within 30 days.
    • Corrective Lenses Restricted license are acceptable provided the driver wears the corrective lenses while operating a state vehicle.
  • Must be willing to perform essential services before, during, and after an emergency.
  • Must be willing to work beyond the normal work schedule to maintain minimum coverage levels and meet the needs of the Agency.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs with or without accommodation. 
  • Three (3) years of experience in maintaining electrical equipment such as motors, panels, pumps and bending pipes.  
  • Three (3) years of experience in troubleshooting electrical circuits.

As a condition of employment, a person appointed to a position in the State Personnel System is required to participate in the Direct Deposit Program.  Rather than receiving a paper paycheck, your funds will be deposited directly into your account at your financial institution. This will be accomplished by Electronic Funds Transfer. Banks, savings and loan associations, and credit unions are eligible to accept such deposits. Retirement funds are also required to be in the Direct Deposit Program.

 

BACKGROUND SCREENING REQUIREMENT

It is the policy of the Florida Agency for Persons with Disabilities that applicants for employment undergo Level 2 employment screening in accordance with the requirements of Chapter 435, Florida Statutes, as a condition of employment or being permitted to serve as a volunteer.
