Anticipated Starting Salary:  $38,000/yr. depending on level of degree and years of experience.


Current employees will be compensated in accordance with the DCF salary policy.  


A Social Services Counselor F/C is a core member of the recovery treatment team.  Case management, coordination and implementation of services is their primary responsibility.  A social services counselor is also responsible for evaluating for competency and writing reports submitted to the court to document a resident’s progress.

This position requires work in an area serving forensic residents at a residential treatment facility.  The facility serves a seriously and persistently mentally ill population with felony charges who have been determined incompetent to proceed to trial or not guilty by reason of insanity.

The standard schedule for a Social Services Counselor F/C is Monday thru Friday, 8:00 A.M. to 4:30 P.M.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Prepare clinical summaries and reports for the courts and to other agencies within established timelines.


  • Will carry a clinical case load of up to 18 residents.


  • Serve as an active member of a recovery treatment team.


  • Develop, implement, and update recovery service plans for each assigned resident.


  • Provide each assigned resident individual counseling and case management services to include contact with family, community mental health providers, and the courts.


  • Serve as a liaison with community service providers to develop aftercare plans and facilitate discharge planning.


  • Develop and implement education group counseling for residents.


  • Responsible for documentation of resident issues, resolution, and progress as per established operating procedures.


  • Perform other duties as assigned.


The position will perform all job tasks in accordance with laws, rules, regulations, policies, and requirements applicable to state and federal laws or procedures.
