The Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) is the state of Florida’s social services agency. Within DCF, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health (SAMH) Program office is recognized as the single state authority for substance abuse and mental health services. The Office of SAMH is statutorily responsible for the planning, evaluation, and implementation of a comprehensive statewide system of care for the prevention, treatment, and recovery of children and adults with serious mental illnesses or substance use disorders.
North Florida Evaluation and Treatment Center (NFETC) is a 216 bed, all male, forensic, mental health rehabilitation facility. The Center is located in northeast Gainesville, Florida on 639 picturesque acres with regular sightings of deer, turkey, and other wildlife. NFETC employs a variety of entry level to leadership positions including food service, maintenance, direct care, nurses, counselors, rehab therapists, medical doctors, security, psychiatrists, and psychologists.

This is a highly responsible and professional position that will serve as Support Service Aide-CS. This position will collaborate with each section within the state facilities and be required to use independent judgement, take initiative in carrying out duties and responsibilities and should be extraordinarily detail oriented.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities include:
- Completes all needed food and beverage orders for the kitchen.
- Prepares and counts salads, beverages, and sandwiches. Assists the Food Support Worker in cleaning and cutting vegetables, slicing, and counting portions of meats. Counts and pans desserts and bakery products for the tray line and cafeteria line.
- Delivers and picks up loaded carts containing food trays to and from campus area. Supervises residents that deliver and pick up caters to and from residential buildings. Work on tray line in a portioning cold or hot food. Counts serving trays and places trays in food carts for delivery.
- Washes and sterilizes food trays, dishes, glasses, pots, pans, and utensils. Maintains work areas in a clean and sanitary condition.
- Performs general cleaning to maintain sanitary conditions in food preparation.
- Sets up serving line with salads, desserts, and serving utensils. Assists Food Support Workers in setting up hot food on the serving line. Works on staff cafeteria serving line portioning and serving food.
- Prepares food and sets up trays for residents on a special diet.
- Removes trash from kitchen, dining room, and dish room areas to proper trash receptacles outside. Cleans trach cart after moving trash.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities required for the position:
- Must be able to travel up 17 stairs and 50 feet in 30 seconds.
- Must be able to go up and down 17 stairs 8 times in 8 hours.
- Must have normal vision and hearing, including use of corrective devices.
- Must be able to work with or around cleaning chemicals and supplies.
- Must be able to do repetitive movements with both arms and hands, neck, and head; up to 60 movements in 1 hour.
- Must be able to lift both arms overhead for extended times.
- Must be able to demonstrate competency in all areas of training, some of which requires moderate to heavy physical activity such as safe operation of job essential tools and equipment, loading and unloading, CPR, MANDT and Heimlich training.
- Must be able to bend, twist, turn, kneel, push, and stoop 10 times in one hour if necessary.
- Must be able to physically operate all equipment necessary to do job tasks, including using a keyboard.
- Must be able to climb ladders and work on top of 2 story buildings (Maintenance).
- Must be able to Drive an EZ Go golf cart
- Must be able to drive all necessary vehicles for 3 hours without a break (Maintenance and Security).
- Must be able to lift 40 pounds or drag 150 pounds for 3 feet distance, as needed.
- Must be able to carry up to 15 pounds up 17 stairs in 1 minute.
- Must be able to sit and/or stand for 7 l/2 hours per shift.
- Must be able to walk unassisted for 800 feet without stopping in 5 minutes.
- Must be able to work 16 hour shifts on occasion.
- Must be able to work outside for 8 hours with normal breaks & lunch (Maintenance and Warehouse).
- Must be able to remain alert for a period of 1 to 16 hours including normal breaks.
- Must be able to work safely around hot (400 F.) and cold (-10F.) temperatures.
