The Division of Investigative and Forensic Services encompasses all law enforcement and forensic components residing within the Department of Financial Services. With this broad responsibility, the division investigates a wide range of fraudulent and criminal acts including:

  • Insurance Fraud Investigations
  • Workers' Compensation Fraud Investigations
  • Fire, Arson, and Explosives Investigations
  • Theft/Misuse of State Funds

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or its’ equivalent.
  • Two (2) years of experience in the maintenance and repair of buildings, plumbing or electrical or mechanical equipment; vocational/technical training in mechanical repair or one of the building trades can substitute at the rate of 720 classroom hours for a maximum of one (1) year of the required experience.
  • Must possess a valid Florida Driver’s License.
  • Ability to lift 40-50 pounds.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook.

 

Preference will be given for the following:

  • Experience in carpentry, electricity, or plumbing.

 

Special consideration may be given to eligible candidates who have bilingual verbal & written skills that meet a critical need of the agency’s mission.

 

The hours for this position are Monday - Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, however, this is a part-time position and will only be working 29 hours per week during the regular schedule work week.

 

The minimum pay for this position is $25.00 per hour.

 

Employees of the Department of Financial Services are paid on a monthly pay cycle. 

 

This position requires a security background check which includes a financial credit report, and fingerprinting.

Minimum Qualifications for this position include the following REQUIRED ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • General principles of carpentry, electricity, and plumbing.
  • Skill in using hand, power, and bench tools.
  • Ability to follow and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing and establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
  • Knowledge of the principles and techniques used in the skilled mechanical repair trades, including carpentry, masonry, basic wiring, painting, plumbing, and HVAC.
  • Skill in the use of common bench and hand tools and the equipment used in maintenance and repair work.
  • Ability to lift 40-50 pounds.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook.
  • Ability to trouble shoot and problem solve all building functions and issues.
  • Ability to plan, organize building maintenance and repair work.
  • Ability to read, write and interpret blueprints, take accurate measurements, perform basic math.
  • Ability to understand and apply regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing tasks to meet all staff needs.
  • Maintain a valid Florida driver’s license.

 

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

  • Perform general maintenance and repair of buildings, grounds and equipment and other miscellaneous items as directed. This includes performing preventative maintenance on all buildings and related equipment.
  • Clean, sweep, mop, and stock public restrooms daily with the necessary supplies. Maintain inventories of market cleaning supplies and supplies for daily maintenance.
  • Perform minor repairs on all plumbing, electrical and communication equipment.
  • Perform minor plumbing maintenance to include repair and/or adjust or install valves, faucets, traps, sinks, water closets, urinals, leaks, toilets, water lines, sewer lines and other sanitary fixtures.
  • Perform general carpentry work in the alternation, repair and maintenance of buildings, floors, doors, and windows.
  • Perform minor electrical maintenance to include repair and/or replacement of light fixtures, switches, ballasts, outlets, wiring, bulbs, air conditioners, etc. Repair defective components in fluorescent light fixtures, replace burned out bulbs and replace defective switches and receptacles.
  • Relocated furniture and equipment from building to building as required.
  • Operate, clean and repair power equipment, tools, vehicles, lawn mowers and other equipment as necessary.
  • Perform/assist in hurricane preparedness.
  • Perform other job-related facility duties as required.
