This position is located in High Springs, FL
Position Overview and Responsibilities:
A seasonal opportunity is available for a self-motivated, hardworking individual to fill a position focused on maintenance and grounds keeping at O’Leno State Park in accordance with Florida Park Service standards. This is a seasonal position and does not include health insurance.
MAINTENANCE – Performing preventative and basic corrective maintenance on all equipment including park vehicles. Communicates equipment maintenance needs to management. Maintains cleanliness of grounds and facilities. Maintenance of park grounds, trails, and facilities.
Performs other related duties as required.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
KNOWLEDGE OF:
General methods and techniques used in the repair and/or maintenance of park facilities, equipment, and grounds
Basic math computations
SKILLED IN:
Using various hand and power tools and equipment
Maintenance of facilities and grounds
The operation and use of various kinds of equipment including trucks and tractors
Communicating effectively verbally and in writing
Utilize a computer including, but not limited to software programs such as Microsoft Office Suite
ABILITY TO:
Coordinate work assignments and ensure proper completion
Conduct inspections and maintain park facilities, equipment and grounds
Identify and investigate problems
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
Perform physical labor using assorted power/gas tools and equipment
Accurately prepare reports
Clean park facilities, including but not limited to, cleaning restrooms and picking up trash
Work in inclement weather
Perform physical labor
Lift 40lbs and assist in transporting items or other supplies 100lbs or more
Work rotating shifts including nights, weekends and holidays
Minimum Qualifications:
Valid Driver’s License
Position of Special Trust Requirement:
This position is designated as a Position of Special Trust in accordance with DEP Directive 422, Positions of Special Trust or Responsibility. Successful completion of background screening will be required for this position.

$15/hour

One of Florida’s first state parks, O’Leno State Park was developed by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s. The park is located along the banks of the scenic Sante Fe River, a tributary of the Suwannee River, and features sinkholes, hardwood hammocks, river swamps and sandhills. As the river courses through the park, it disappears underground and reemerges over three miles away in River Rise Preserve State Park.
