Salary: $89,214.36 annually

DESCRIPTION:
This position provides support to the Bureau Chief of Maintenance & Repairs. The employee in this position will manage and supervise work performed by regional and facility maintenance personnel, vendors, contractors, and design professionals. Manages and oversee the following areas: Routine work orders, corrective and preventative maintenance; development of plans and contract documents and special projects. Oversee the design of individual systems, project and operating budgets, material and cost estimates, schedules of values, specifications, bid packages, bid analysis, and award recommendations and the review and approval of shop drawings.
- Perform job site inspections, assist with maintenance issues, supervise construction projects, review invoices, complete certificates of completion and assist with closing out of projects. Briefs the Chief of Maintenance and Repairs in regard to all regional maintenance activities and special projects.
- Coordinates, reviews, and prepares correspondence assigned to his/her section. These responsibilities are as follows; oversees preparation of correspondence with appropriate staff; reviews prepared correspondence for completeness and compliance, verifies funding source, verifies that due dates are met, and correspondence is prepared in a timely manner. Accurately prepares reports and updates regarding maintenance activities the Chief of Maintenance and Repairs.
- Monitors project status, schedule, budgets, and allocation of funds for maintenance repairs and projects within the region. Verifies project compliance with approved budget and completion within approved schedule. Verifies that appropriate staff is available to provide a high level of service to the institutions within their area of responsibility.
- Serves as an essential staff member for the Bureau of Maintenance and Repairs and provides leadership and direction to all maintenance staff in their region during times of emergencies.
- Provides assistance to the Chief of Maintenance and Repairs for his/her region in the preparation of FCO budget requests and development of operating budgets for maintenance and preventive maintenance. Works with the Chief of Maintenance and Repairs and maintenance superintendents to develop and oversee a five-year maintenance plan for each institution within his/her region. Assist the maintenance superintendents in prioritizing this plan based on overall department needs.
- Coordinates and assist Regional Department Heads EHSO, IT, Medical, Wardens and Regional Director on maintenance issues and projects.
- Monitors and oversees personnel actions involving regional maintenance and facility maintenance staff. Leads all recruiting and retention activities for their region to keep positions filled and ensure the vacancy rate is kept as low as possible.
- Manage and oversee the use and training of the Department’s work order software system. Ensures that staff are trained, and that the system is utilized properly as designed. Designates one regional staff person as the primary point of contact for all work order software matters.
- Serves as the point of contact for all Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) projects within their region. Provides support and assistance to the Maintenance Superintendents for all ADA projects in their region.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Two (2) or more years of supervisory/managerial/ team lead experience in a maintenance or related environment.
- Seven (7) or more years of operations and maintenance work experience. A degree may substitute on year for year basis for up to 4 years of experience.
- A valid Driver's License
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in AIMS (work order maintenance software)
- Two (2) or more years of experience with the State of Florida purchasing rules and processes.
- Two (2) or more years of experience in entering and processing state travel within STMS.
- Four (4) or more years in supervisory or team lead experience with The Department of Corrections.
