Your Specific Responsibilities:

The incumbent is part of a global public health organization and is expected to support the Florida Department of Health in Pasco County in its mission to protect, promote and improve the health of all people in Florida through integrated state, county and community efforts and its vision to be the Healthiest State in the Nation. Furthermore, the incumbent is expected to incorporate the agency values of Innovation, Collaboration, Accountability, Responsiveness and Excellence in all aspects of their work.

This position reports to the County Health Department (CHD) Assistant Administrator. The incumbent is an employee of the Florida Department of Health in Pasco County (DOH-Pasco) and represents the agency and its vision and mission. The incumbent is part of the public health system and is expected to exhibit Innovation, Collaboration, Accountability, Responsiveness, and Excellence in a diverse, dynamic work environment. This position is in the Health Protection & Response Division (HP&R) located in the Summit office and is a countywide position serving all DOH-Pasco locations including Hudson, Dade City, and Wesley Chapel.

Duties included but not limited to:

Mail and Delivery Services

  • Load and deliver mail, packages, medical items, medications, office equipment, and other materials to all DOH-Pasco sites and designated locations.
  • Travel outside the county as needed.
  • Collect daily deposits from offices, transport them to the bank, and deliver items to Fiscal.
  • Open and sort mail for each program at the Summit office.
  • Deliver outgoing mail to the Post Office and packages to UPS/FedEx as required.

Facilities and Safety

  • Conduct routine facility inspections at all office locations.
  • Assist with fire drills and state safety inspections.
  • Draft results for the electronic Safety Inspection Report Form (SIRF) for supervisor review and submission.
  • Report inspection findings and help implement corrective actions.
  • Handle interoffice moves, assemble office equipment, and perform light building maintenance.

Inventory and Property Management

  • Assist in managing non-technological inventory in compliance with DOHP 250-11-15.
  • Support annual inventory verification.
  • Assist with property disposition and reporting per County and State guidelines.

Receiving and Distribution

  • Receive daily freight, including temperature-sensitive medications.
  • Ensure all freight is properly checked in through MFMP.
  • Deliver incoming freight/packages to departments promptly.

Vehicle and Equipment Maintenance

  • Assist with maintenance of vehicles assigned to the department.
  • Conduct vehicle and trailer maintenance inspections.
  • Schedule maintenance with the county or outside vendors.
  • Perform minor repairs as directed.
  • Ensure all DOH-Pasco response equipment (trucks, trailers, generators, light towers, signboards, etc.) is maintained in ready condition.
  • Drive large vehicles, tow trailers, and operate a forklift as needed.
  • Attend safety committee and/or vehicle utilization committee meetings as directed.

Public Health Preparedness Support

  • Assist with logistical operations at shelters, points of dispensing (PODs), staging areas, and other response activities.
  • Support setup and delivery of equipment and supplies.
  • Assist with outreach events, including setup, delivery of equipment/supplies, and staffing support.
  • Move and operate vehicles such as large trucks and trailers to support events.

Perform other related duties as requested/required.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experience in MS Office Products (Outlook, Teams, Word and Excel primarily)
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle. Utilize and operate a forklift machine and pallet jack; training will be provided.
  • Ability to drive large vehicles and pull trailers.
  • Ability to use hand tools.
  • Knowledge in minor repairs and maintenance of grounds and building.
  • Ability to follow instructions and pay attention to details.
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Must have the ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs. This position will require reaching, bending, stretching, twisting or stooping and must be able to lift heavy, bulky packages (some more than 50 pounds).

 

Qualifications:

Minimum: 

Valid Florida Driver’s License. 

Willing to travel around the county delivering, collecting, and moving various items/goods
